Yahweh’s Commands to Joshua

1 Now it came ^H1961 about ^H1961 after ^H310 the death ^H4194 of Moses ^H4872 the servant ^H5650 of [fn]Yahweh ^H3068, that Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H559 to Joshua ^H3091 the son ^H1121 of Nun ^H5126, Moses’ ^H4872 [fn]attendant ^H8334, saying ^H559,

2 “Moses ^H4872 My servant ^H5650 is dead ^H4191; so now ^H6258 arise ^H6965, cross ^H5674 this ^H2088 Jordan ^H3383, you and all ^H3605 this ^H2088 people ^H5971, to the land ^H776 which ^H834 I am giving ^H5414 to them, to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478. 3 Every ^H3605 place ^H4725 on which ^H834 the sole ^H3709 of your foot ^H7272 treads ^H1869, I have given ^H5414 it to you, just ^H834 as I spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872. 4 From the wilderness ^H4057 and this ^H2088 Lebanon ^H3844, even as far ^H5704 as the great ^H1419 river ^H5104, the river ^H5104 Euphrates ^H6578, all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of the Hittites ^H2850, and as far ^H5704 as the Great ^H1419 Sea ^H3220 toward the setting ^H3996 of the sun ^H8121 will be your territory ^H1366. 5 No ^H3808 man ^H376 will be able to stand ^H3320 before ^H6440 you all ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of your life ^H2416. Be strong ^H2388 and courageous ^H553! Do not be in dread ^H6206 or be dismayed ^H2865, for Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is with you wherever ^H3605 H834 you go ^H1980.”

Joshua’s Command to the Officers

10 Then Joshua ^H3091 commanded ^H6680 the officers ^H7860 of the people ^H5971, saying ^H559,

11 “Pass ^H5674 through the midst ^H7130 of the camp ^H4264 and command ^H6680 the people ^H5971, saying ^H559, ‘Prepare ^H3559 provisions ^H6720 for yourselves, for within ^H5750 three ^H7969 days ^H3117 you are to cross ^H5674 this ^H2088 Jordan ^H3383, to go ^H935 in ^H935 to possess ^H3423 the land ^H776 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is giving ^H5414 you, to possess ^H3423 it.’”

12 To the Reubenites ^H7206 and to the Gadites ^H1425 and to the half-tribe ^H2677 H7626 of Manasseh ^H4519, Joshua ^H3091 [fn]said ^H559, 13 “Remember ^H2142 the word ^H1697 which ^H834 Moses ^H4872 the servant ^H5650 of Yahweh ^H3068 commanded ^H6680 you, saying ^H559, ‘Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 gives ^H5117 you rest ^H5117 and will give ^H5414 you this ^H2088 land ^H776.’ 14 Your wives ^H802, your little ^H2945 ones ^H2945, and your cattle ^H4735 shall remain ^H3427 in the land ^H776 which ^H834 Moses ^H4872 gave ^H5414 you beyond ^H5676 the Jordan ^H3383, but you shall cross ^H5674 before ^H6440 your brothers ^H251 in battle ^H2571 array ^H2571, all ^H3605 your valiant ^H2428 warriors ^H1368, and shall help ^H5826 them 15 until ^H5704 Yahweh ^H3068 gives ^H5117 your brothers ^H251 rest ^H5117 as He gives you, and they also ^H1571 possess ^H3423 the land ^H776 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is giving ^H5414 them. Then you shall return ^H7725 to the land ^H776 of your possession ^H3425 and possess ^H3423 it, which ^H834 Moses ^H4872 the servant ^H5650 of Yahweh ^H3068 gave ^H5414 you beyond ^H5676 the Jordan ^H3383 to the east toward the sunrise ^H4217 H8121.”

16 And they answered ^H6030 Joshua ^H3091, saying ^H559, “All ^H3605 that you have commanded ^H6680 us we will do ^H6213, and wherever ^{H413 H3605 H834} you send ^H7971 us we will go ^H1980. 17 Just ^H3605 H834 as we listened ^H8085 to Moses ^H4872 in all ^H3605 things ^H3605, so ^H3651 we will listen ^H8085 to you; only ^H7534 may Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 be with you as He was with Moses ^H4872. 18 Anyone ^H3605 H376 who ^H834 rebels ^H4784 against ^H854 your [fn]command ^H6310 and does not listen ^H8085 to your words ^H1697, in all ^H3605 that you command ^H6680 him, shall be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191; only ^H7534 be strong ^H2388 and courageous ^H553.”
