Set Yourselves Apart as Holy

1 Then Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

2 “You shall also say ^H559 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478:

‘Any ^H376 man ^H376 from the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 or from the sojourners ^H1616 sojourning ^H1481 in Israel ^H3478 who ^H834 gives ^H5414 any ^H4480 of his seed ^H2233 to Molech ^H4432 shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to death ^H4191; the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 shall stone ^H7275 him with stones ^H68. 3 I will also set ^H5414 My face ^H6440 against that man ^H376 and will cut ^H3772 him off ^H3772 from among ^H7130 his people ^H5971 because ^H3588 he has given ^H5414 some ^H4480 of those who are his seed ^H2233 to Molech ^H4432, so ^H4616 as to defile ^H2930 My sanctuary ^H4720 and to profane ^H2455 My holy ^H6944 name ^H8034. 4 If ^H518 the people ^H5971 of the land ^H776, however, [fn]should ever ^H5956 turn ^H5956 a blind eye ^H5869 to that man ^H376 when he gives ^H5414 any ^H4480 of those who are his seed ^H2233 to Molech ^H4432, so as not to put ^H4191 him to ^H4191 death ^H4191, 5 then I Myself ^H589 will set ^H7760 My face ^H6440 against that man ^H376 and against his family ^H4940, and I will cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from among ^H7130 their people ^H5971 both him and all ^H3605 those who play ^H2181 the ^H2181 harlot ^H2181 after ^H310 him, in playing ^H2181 the ^H2181 harlot ^H2181 after ^H310 Molech ^H4432.

6 ‘As for the person ^H5315 who ^H834 turns ^H6437 to [fn]mediums ^H178 and to spiritists ^H3049, to play ^H2181 the ^H2181 harlot ^H2181 after ^H310 them, I will also set ^H5414 My face ^H6440 against that person ^H5315 and will cut ^H3772 him off ^H3772 from among ^H7130 his people ^H5971. 7 Therefore, you shall set ^H6942 yourselves apart ^H6942 as ^H6942 holy ^H6942 and be holy ^H6944, for I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430. 8 And you shall keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2708 and do ^H6213 them; I am Yahweh ^H3068 who makes ^H6942 you holy ^H6942.

9 ‘If ^H3588 there is anyone ^H376 who ^H834 curses ^H7043 his father ^H1 or his mother ^H517, he shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191; he has cursed ^H7043 his father ^H1 or his mother ^H517. His bloodguiltiness ^H1818 is upon him.

10 ‘If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 commits ^H5003 adultery ^H5003 with another man’s ^H376 wife ^H802, one who ^H834 commits ^H5003 adultery ^H5003 with his friend’s ^H7453 wife ^H802, the adulterer ^H5003 and the adulteress ^H5003 shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191. 11 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 lies ^H7901 with his father’s ^H1 wife ^H802, he has uncovered ^H1540 his father’s ^H1 nakedness ^H6172; both ^H8147 of them shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191. Their bloodguiltiness ^H1818 is upon them. 12 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 lies ^H7901 with his daughter-in-law ^H3618, both ^H8147 of them shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191; they have committed ^H6213 [fn]perversion ^H8397. Their bloodguiltiness ^H1818 is upon them. 13 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 lies ^H7901 with a male ^H2145 as those who lie ^H4904 with a woman ^H802, both ^H8147 of them have committed ^H6213 an abomination ^H8441; they shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191. Their bloodguiltiness ^H1818 is upon them. 14 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 [fn]marries ^H3947 a woman ^H802 and her mother ^H517, it is lewdness ^H2154; both he and they shall be burned ^H8313 with fire ^H784 so that there will be no ^H3808 lewdness ^H2154 in your midst ^H8432. 15 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 lies ^H5414 H7903 with an animal ^H929, he shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191; you shall also kill ^H2026 the animal ^H929. 16 If there is a woman ^H802 who ^H834 approaches ^H7126 any ^H3605 animal ^H929 to [fn]mate ^H7250 with it, you shall kill ^H2026 the woman ^H802 and the animal ^H929; they shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191. Their bloodguiltiness ^H1818 is upon them.

17 ‘If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 takes ^H3947 his sister ^H269, his father’s ^H1 daughter ^H1323, or ^H176 his mother’s ^H517 daughter ^H1323, so that he sees ^H7200 her nakedness ^H6172 and she sees ^H7200 his nakedness ^H6172, it is a disgrace ^H2617; and they shall be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 in the sight ^H5869 of the sons ^H1121 of their people ^H5971. He has uncovered ^H1540 his sister’s ^H269 nakedness ^H6172; he bears ^H5375 his guilt ^H5771. 18 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 lies ^H7901 with a [fn]menstruous ^H1739 woman ^H802 and uncovers ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172, he has laid ^H6168 bare ^H6168 her flow ^H4726, and she has uncovered ^H1540 the flow ^H4726 of her blood ^H1818; thus both ^H8147 of them shall be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from among ^H7130 their people ^H5971. 19 You shall also not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your mother’s ^H517 sister ^H269 or of your father’s ^H1 sister ^H269, for such a one has made ^H6168 naked ^H6168 his [fn]blood ^H7607 relative ^H7607; they will bear ^H5375 their guilt ^H5771. 20 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 lies ^H7901 with his aunt ^H1733, he has uncovered ^H1540 his uncle’s ^H1730 nakedness ^H6172; they will bear ^H5375 their sin ^H2399. They will die ^H4191 childless ^H6185. 21 If there is a man ^H376 who ^H834 takes ^H3947 his brother’s ^H251 wife ^H802, it is an [fn]impure ^H5079 act; he has uncovered ^H1540 his brother’s ^H251 nakedness ^H6172. They will be childless ^H6185.

22 ‘You shall therefore keep ^H8104 all ^H3605 My statutes ^H2708 and all ^H3605 My judgments ^H4941 and do ^H6213 them, so that the land ^H776 to which ^H834 I am bringing ^H935 you to [fn]inhabit ^H3427 will not vomit ^H6958 you out ^H6958. 23 Moreover, you shall not walk ^H1980 in the statutes ^H2708 of the nation ^H1471 which ^H834 I will cast ^H7971 out ^H7971 before ^H6440 you, for they did ^H6213 all ^H3605 these ^H428 things ^H428, and therefore I have loathed ^H6973 them. 24 Hence I have said ^H559 to you, “You yourselves shall possess ^H3423 their land ^H127, and I Myself ^H589 will give ^H5414 it to you to possess ^H3423 it, a land ^H776 flowing ^H2100 with milk ^H2461 and honey ^H1706.” I am Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430, who ^H834 has separated ^H914 you from the peoples ^H5971. 25 You are therefore to separate ^H914 between ^H996 the clean ^H2889 animal ^H929 and the unclean ^H2931, and between ^H996 the unclean ^H2931 bird ^H5775 and the clean ^H2889; and you shall not make ^H8262 [fn]yourselves ^H5315 detestable ^H8262 by animal ^H929 or by bird ^H5775 or by anything ^H3605 [fn]that creeps ^H7430 on the ground ^H127, which ^H834 I have separated ^H914 for you as unclean ^H2930. 26 Thus you shall be holy ^H6918 to Me, for I Yahweh ^H3068 am holy ^H6918; and I have separated ^H914 you ^H914 from the peoples ^H5971 to be Mine.

27 ‘Now a man ^H376 or ^H176 a woman ^H802 who is a medium ^H178 or ^H176 a [fn]spiritist ^H3049 shall surely ^H4191 be put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191. They shall be stoned ^H7275 with stones ^H68. Their bloodguiltiness ^H1818 is upon them.’”
