The Statutes of Sin Offerings

1 Then Yahweh ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

2 “Speak ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478, saying ^H559, ‘If ^H3588 a person ^H5315 sins ^H2398 unintentionally ^H7684 in any ^H3605 of the [fn]things ^H4687 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has commanded ^H4687 not to be done ^H6213, and he does ^H6213 any ^H259 one of them, 3 if ^H518 the anointed ^H4899 priest ^H3548 sins ^H2398 so as to bring ^H819 guilt ^H819 on the people ^H5971, then let him bring ^H7126 near ^H7126 to Yahweh ^H3068 a bull ^H6499 from the herd ^H1121 H1241 without ^H8549 blemish ^H8549 as a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 for the sin ^H2403 he has [fn]committed ^H2398. 4 Then he shall bring ^H935 the bull ^H6499 to the doorway ^H6607 of the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068, and he shall lay ^H5564 his hand ^H3027 on the head ^H7218 of the bull ^H6499 and slaughter ^H7819 the bull ^H6499 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068. 5 Then the anointed ^H4899 priest ^H3548 shall take ^H3947 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 of the bull ^H6499 and bring ^H935 it to the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150, 6 and the priest ^H3548 shall dip ^H2881 his finger ^H676 in the blood ^H1818 and sprinkle ^H5137 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 seven ^H7651 times ^H6471 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 in front ^H6440 of the veil ^H6532 of the sanctuary ^H6944. 7 The priest ^H3548 shall also put ^H5414 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 on the horns ^H7161 of the altar ^H4196 of fragrant ^H5561 incense ^H7004 which ^H834 is before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 in the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150; and all ^H3605 the blood ^H1818 of the bull ^H6499 he shall pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 at the base ^H3247 of the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 which ^H834 is at the doorway ^H6607 of the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150. 8 Then he shall raise ^H7311 up ^H7311 from it all ^H3605 the fat ^H2459 of the bull ^H6499 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403: the fat ^H2459 that covers ^H3680 the entrails ^H7130 and all ^H3605 the fat ^H2459 which ^H834 is on the entrails ^H7130, 9 and the two ^H8147 kidneys ^H3629 with the fat ^H2459 that is on them, which ^H834 is on the loins ^H3689, and the [fn]lobe ^H3508 of the liver ^H3516, which ^H834 he shall remove ^H5493 with the kidneys ^H3629 10 (just ^H834 as it is raised ^H7311 up ^H7311 from the ox ^H7794 of the sacrifice ^H2077 of peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002), and the priest ^H3548 shall offer ^H6999 them up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 on the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930. 11 But the hide ^H5785 of the bull ^H6499 and all ^H3605 its flesh ^H1320 with ^H5921 its head ^H7218 and its legs ^H3767 and its entrails ^H7130 and its refuse ^H6569, 12 [fn]that is, all ^H3605 the rest of the bull ^H6499, he shall bring ^H3318 out ^H3318 to a clean ^H2889 place ^H4725 outside ^H4480 H2351 the camp ^H4264 where ^H413 the [fn]ashes ^H1880 are poured ^H8211 out, and he shall burn ^H8313 it on wood ^H6086 with fire ^H784; where ^H5921 the [fn]ashes ^H1880 are poured ^H8211 out it shall be burned ^H8313.

13 ‘Now if ^H518 the whole ^H3605 congregation ^H5712 of Israel ^H3478 commits ^H7686 error ^H7686, and the matter ^H1697 is hidden ^H5956 from the sight ^H5869 of the assembly ^H6951, and they commit ^H6213 any ^H259 of the [fn]things ^H4687 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has commanded ^H4687 not to be done ^H6213, and they become ^H816 guilty ^H816; 14 when the sin ^H2403 [fn]which ^H834 they have [fn]committed ^H2398 becomes ^H3045 known ^H3045, then the assembly ^H6951 shall bring ^H7126 near ^H7126 a bull ^H6499 H1121 from the herd ^H1121 H1241 for a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 and bring ^H935 it before ^H6440 the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150. 15 Then the elders ^H2205 of the congregation ^H5712 shall lay ^H5564 their hands ^H3027 on the head ^H7218 of the bull ^H6499 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068, and the bull ^H6499 shall be slaughtered ^H7819 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068. 16 Then the anointed ^H4899 priest ^H3548 shall bring ^H935 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 of the bull ^H6499 to the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150; 17 and the priest ^H3548 shall dip ^H2881 his finger ^H676 in the blood ^H1818 and sprinkle ^H5137 it seven ^H7651 times ^H6471 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 in front ^H6440 of the veil ^H6532. 18 And he shall put ^H5414 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 on the horns ^H7161 of the altar ^H4196 which ^H834 is before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068 [fn]in the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150; and all ^H3605 the blood ^H1818 he shall pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 at the base ^H3247 of the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 which ^H834 is at the doorway ^H6607 of the tent ^H168 of meeting ^H4150. 19 He shall then raise ^H7311 up ^H7311 all ^H3605 its fat ^H2459 from it and offer ^H6999 it up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 on the altar ^H4196. 20 He shall also do ^H6213 with the bull ^H6499 just ^H834 as he did ^H6213 with the bull ^H6499 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403; thus ^H3651 he shall do ^H6213 with it. So the priest ^H3548 shall make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for them, and they will be forgiven ^H5545. 21 Then he shall bring ^H3318 out ^H3318 the bull ^H6499 to a place outside ^H4480 H2351 the camp ^H4264 and burn ^H8313 it as he burned ^H8313 the first ^H7223 bull ^H6499; it is the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 for the assembly ^H6951.

22 ‘When ^H834 a leader ^H5387 sins ^H2398 and unintentionally ^H7684 does ^H6213 any ^H259 one ^H259 of all ^H3605 the [fn]things ^H4687 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 his God ^H430 has commanded ^H4687 not to be done ^H6213, and he becomes ^H816 guilty ^H816, 23 or if ^H176 his sin ^H2403 [fn]which ^H834 he has committed ^H2398 is made ^H3045 known ^H3045 to him, he shall bring ^H935 for his offering ^H7133 a [fn]goat ^H8163 H5795, a male ^H2145 without ^H8549 blemish ^H8549. 24 Then he shall lay ^H5564 his hand ^H3027 on the head ^H7218 of the male ^H8163 goat ^H8163 and slaughter ^H7819 it in the place ^H4725 where ^H834 [fn]they slaughter ^H7819 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930 before ^H6440 Yahweh ^H3068; it is a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403. 25 Then the priest ^H3548 shall take ^H3947 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 with his finger ^H676 and put ^H5414 it on the horns ^H7161 of the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930; and the rest of its blood ^H1818 he shall pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 at the base ^H3247 of the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930. 26 And all ^H3605 its fat ^H2459 he shall offer ^H6999 up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 on the altar ^H4196 as in the case of the fat ^H2459 of the sacrifice ^H2077 of peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002. Thus the priest ^H3548 shall make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for him in regard to his sin ^H2403, and he will be forgiven ^H5545.

27 ‘Now if ^H518 [fn]anyone ^H5315 H259 of [fn]the common ^H776 people ^H5971 sins ^H2398 unintentionally ^H7684 in doing ^H6213 any ^H259 of the [fn]things ^H4687 which ^H834 Yahweh ^H3068 has commanded ^H4687 not to be done ^H6213, and becomes ^H816 guilty ^H816, 28 or if ^H176 his sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he has [fn]committed ^H2398 is made ^H3045 known ^H3045 to him, then he shall bring ^H935 for his offering ^H7133 a [fn]goat ^H8166, a female ^H5347 without ^H8549 blemish ^H8549, for his sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he has [fn]committed ^H2398. 29 And he shall lay ^H5564 his hand ^H3027 on the head ^H7218 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 and slaughter ^H7819 the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 at the place ^H4725 of the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930. 30 And the priest ^H3548 shall take ^H3947 some ^H4480 of its blood ^H1818 with his finger ^H676 and put ^H5414 it on the horns ^H7161 of the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930; and all ^H3605 the rest of its blood ^H1818 he shall pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 at the base ^H3247 of the altar ^H4196. 31 Then he shall remove ^H5493 all ^H3605 its fat ^H2459, just ^H834 as the fat ^H2459 was removed ^H5493 from the sacrifice ^H2077 of peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002; and the priest ^H3548 shall offer ^H6999 it up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 on the altar ^H4196 for a soothing ^H5207 aroma ^H7381 to Yahweh ^H3068. Thus the priest ^H3548 shall make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for him, [fn]and he will be forgiven ^H5545.

32 ‘But if ^H518 he brings ^H935 a lamb ^H3532 as his offering ^H7133 for a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403, he shall bring ^H935 it, a female ^H5347 without ^H8549 blemish ^H8549. 33 And he shall lay ^H5564 his hand ^H3027 on the head ^H7218 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 and slaughter ^H7819 it for a sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 in the place ^H4725 where ^H834 [fn]they slay ^H7819 the burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930. 34 And the priest ^H3548 shall take ^H3947 some ^H4480 of the blood ^H1818 of the sin ^H2403 offering ^H2403 with his finger ^H676 and put ^H5414 it on the horns ^H7161 of the altar ^H4196 of burnt ^H5930 offering ^H5930, and all ^H3605 the rest of its blood ^H1818 he shall pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 at the base ^H3247 of the altar ^H4196. 35 Then he shall remove ^H5493 all ^H3605 its fat ^H2459, just ^H834 as the fat ^H2459 of the lamb ^H3775 is removed ^H5493 from the sacrifice ^H2077 of the peace ^H8002 offerings ^H8002, and the priest ^H3548 shall offer ^H6999 them up ^H6999 in ^H6999 smoke ^H6999 on the altar ^H4196, on the offerings ^H801 by ^H801 fire ^H801 to Yahweh ^H3068. Thus the priest ^H3548 shall make ^H3722 atonement ^H3722 for him in regard ^H5921 to his sin ^H2403 which ^H834 he has [fn]committed ^H2398, and he will be forgiven ^H5545.
