The Woman and the Beast

1 Then ^G2532 one ^G1520 of the seven ^G2033 angels ^G32 who have ^G2192 the seven ^G2033 bowls ^G5357 came ^G2064 and spoke ^G2980 with me, saying ^G3004, “Come ^G1204 here ^G1204, I will show ^G1166 you the judgment ^G2917 of the great ^G3173 harlot ^G4204 who sits ^G2521 on many ^G4183 waters ^G5204,

2 with whom ^G3739 the kings ^G935 of the earth ^G1093 committed ^G4203 [fn]sexual ^G4203 immorality ^G4203, and those ^G3588 who dwell ^G2730 on the earth ^G1093 were made ^G3184 drunk ^G3184 with the wine ^G3631 of her [fn]sexual ^G4202 immorality ^G4202.” 3 And he carried ^G667 me away ^G667 [fn]in the Spirit ^G4151 into a wilderness ^G2048; then I saw ^G3708 a woman ^G1135 sitting ^G2521 on a scarlet ^G2847 beast ^G2342, full ^G1073 of blasphemous ^G988 names ^G3686, having ^G2192 seven ^G2033 heads ^G2776 and ten ^G1176 horns ^G2768. 4 And the woman ^G1135 was clothed ^G4016 in purple ^G4210 and scarlet ^G2847, and [fn]adorned ^G5558 with gold ^G5553 and precious ^G5093 [fn]stones ^G3037 and pearls ^G3135, having ^G2192 in her hand ^G5495 a gold ^G5552 cup ^G4221 full ^G1073 of abominations ^G946 and of the unclean ^G169 things ^G169 of her [fn]sexual ^G4202 immorality ^G4202, 5 and on her forehead ^G3359 a name ^G3686 was written ^G1125, a mystery ^G3466, “BABYLON ^G897 THE GREAT ^G3173, THE MOTHER ^G3384 OF HARLOTS ^G4204 AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS ^G946 OF THE EARTH ^G1093.” 6 Then I saw ^G3708 the woman ^G1135 drunk ^G3184 with the blood ^G129 of the saints ^G40, and with the blood ^G129 of the witnesses ^G3144 of Jesus ^G2424. When I saw ^G3708 her, I wondered ^G2296 [fn]greatly ^G2295 G3173. 7 And the angel ^G32 said ^G3004 to me, “Why ^G1223 G5101 [fn]do you wonder ^G2296? I will tell ^G3004 you the mystery ^G3466 of the woman ^G1135 and of the beast ^G2342 that carries ^G941 her, which has ^G2192 the seven ^G2033 heads ^G2776 and the ten ^G1176 horns ^G2768.

8 “The beast ^G2342 that you saw ^G3708 was, and is not, and is ^G3195 about ^G3195 to ^G3195 come ^G305 up ^G305 out of the abyss ^G12 and [fn]go ^G5217 to destruction ^G684. 15 And he *said ^G3004 to me, “The waters ^G5204 which ^G3739 you saw ^G3708 where ^G3757 the harlot ^G4204 sits ^G2521, are peoples ^G2992 and crowds ^G3793 and nations ^G1484 and tongues ^G1100. 16 And the ten ^G1176 horns ^G2768 which ^G3739 you saw ^G3708, and the beast ^G2342, these ^G3778 will hate ^G3404 the harlot ^G4204 and will lay ^G4160 waste ^G2049 to her and make ^G4160 her naked ^G1131, and will eat ^G2068 her flesh ^G4561 and will burn ^G2618 her up ^G2618 with fire ^G4442. 17 For God ^G2316 gave ^G1325 it in their hearts ^G2588 to do ^G4160 His [fn]purpose ^G1106 both [fn]by doing ^G4160 their own common ^G1520 purpose ^G1106 and by giving ^G1325 their kingdom ^G932 to the beast ^G2342, until ^G891 the words ^G3056 of God ^G2316 will be finished ^G5055. 18 And the woman ^G1135 whom ^G3739 you saw ^G3708 is the great ^G3173 city ^G4172, which has ^G2192 a kingdom ^G932 over ^G1909 the kings ^G935 of the earth ^G1093.”
