The Unjust Knows No Shame

1 Woe ^H1945 to her who is rebellious ^H4784 and defiled ^H1351,

The oppressive ^H3238 city ^H5892!

2 She did not ^H3808 listen ^H8085 to any voice ^H6963;

She did not ^H3808 receive ^H3947 discipline ^H4148.

She did not trust ^H982 in Yahweh ^H3068;

She did not draw ^H7126 near ^H7126 to her God ^H430.

3 Her princes ^H8269 in ^H7130 her midst ^H7130 are roaring ^H7580 lions ^H738;

Her judges ^H8199 are wolves ^H2061 at evening ^H6153;

They leave nothing ^H3808 to gnaw ^H1633 for the morning ^H1242.

4 Her prophets ^H5030 are reckless ^H6348, treacherous ^H900 men ^H376;

Her priests ^H3548 have profaned ^H2490 the sanctuary ^H6944.

They have done ^H2554 violence ^H2554 to the law ^H8451.

5 Yahweh ^H3068 is righteous ^H6662 in ^H7130 her midst ^H7130;

He will do ^H6213 no ^H3808 injustice ^H5766.

Every ^H1242 morning ^H1242 He brings ^H5414 His justice ^H4941 to light ^H216;

[fn]He does not fail ^H5737.

But the unjust ^H5767 knows ^H3045 no ^H3808 shame ^H1322.

6 “I have cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 nations ^H1471;

Their corner ^H6438 towers ^H6438 are ^H8074 desolate ^H8074.

I have made ^H2717 their streets ^H2351 a waste ^H2717,

Their cities ^H5892 are laid ^H6658 waste ^H6658,

Yahweh Will Pour Out His Anger

8 “Therefore ^H3651 wait ^H2442 for Me,” declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068,

“For the day ^H3117 when I rise ^H6965 up ^H6965 as a witness ^H5707.

Indeed ^H3588, My judgment ^H4941 is to assemble ^H622 nations ^H1471,

To gather ^H6908 kingdoms ^H4467,

To pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 on them My indignation ^H2195,

All ^H3605 My burning ^H2740 anger ^H639;

For all ^H3605 the earth ^H776 will be devoured ^H398

By the fire ^H784 of My zeal ^H7068.

9 “For then ^H227 I will change ^H2015 them to peoples ^H5971 with purified ^H1305 lips ^H8193,

That all ^H3605 of them may call ^H7121 on the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068,

To serve ^H5647 Him [fn]shoulder ^H7926 to shoulder ^H7926.

10 “From beyond ^H5676 the rivers ^H5104 of [fn]Ethiopia ^H3568

My [fn]worshipers ^H6282, [fn]My scattered ^H1323 H6327 ones,

Will bring ^H2986 My offerings ^H4503.

11 “In that day ^H3117 you will feel ^H954 no ^H3808 shame ^H954

Because ^H4480 of all ^H3605 your deeds ^H5949

By which ^H834 you have transgressed ^H6586 against Me;

For then ^H227 I will remove ^H5493 from your midst ^H7130

Your proud ^H1346, exulting ^H5947 ones ^H5947,

And you will never ^H3808 H5750 again ^H3254 be ^H1361 haughty ^H1361

On My holy ^H6944 mountain ^H2022.

12 “But I will cause to remain ^H7604 in ^H7130 your midst ^H7130

A [fn]lowly ^H6041 and poor ^H1800 people ^H5971,

And they will take ^H2620 refuge ^H2620 in the name ^H8034 of Yahweh ^H3068.

13 “The remnant ^H7611 of Israel ^H3478 will do ^H6213 no ^H3808 injustice ^H5766

And not ^H3808 speak ^H1696 falsehood ^H3577,

Nor ^H3808 will a deceitful ^H8649 tongue ^H3956

Be found ^H4672 in their mouths ^H6310;

For they will feed ^H7462 and lie ^H7257 down ^H7257

With no ^H369 one ^H369 to make them tremble ^H2729.”

Yahweh’s Joy in Restoring Israel

14 Sing ^H7442 for ^H7442 joy ^H7442, O daughter ^H1323 of Zion ^H6726!

Make ^H7321 a ^H7321 loud ^H7321 shout ^H7321, O Israel ^H3478!

Be glad ^H8055 and exult ^H5937 with all ^H3605 your heart ^H3820,

O daughter ^H1323 of Jerusalem ^H3389!

15 Yahweh ^H3068 has taken ^H5493 away ^H5493 His judgments ^H4941 against you;

He has cleared ^H6437 away ^H6437 your enemies ^H340.

The King ^H4428 of Israel ^H3478, Yahweh ^H3068, is in your midst ^H7130;

You will fear ^H3372 evil ^H7451 no ^H3808 more ^H5750.

16 In that day ^H3117 it will be said ^H559 to Jerusalem ^H3389:

“Do not fear ^H3372, O Zion ^H6726;

Do not let your hands ^H3027 fall ^H7503 limp ^H7503.

17 “Yahweh ^H3068 your God ^H430 is in your midst ^H7130,

A mighty ^H1368 one who will save ^H3467.

He will be joyful ^H7797 over ^H5921 you with gladness ^H8057;

He will [fn]be ^H2790 quiet ^H2790 in His love ^H160;

He will rejoice ^H1523 over ^H5921 you with joyful ^H7440 singing ^H7440.

18 “I will assemble ^H622 those who grieve ^H3013 about ^H4480 the appointed ^H4150 feasts ^H4150—

They were ^H1961 from you, O Zion;

The reproach ^H2781 of exile is a burden ^H4864 on [fn]them.

19 “Behold ^H2009, I am going to deal ^H6213 at that time ^H6256

Even at the time ^H6256 when I gather ^H6908 you together;

Indeed ^H3588, I will give ^H5414 you to be a name ^H8034 and praise ^H8416

Among all ^H3605 the peoples ^H5971 of the earth ^H776,

When I restore ^H7725 your fortunes ^H7622 before your eyes ^H5869,”
