God’s Vengeance on the Nations

1 Who ^H4310 is this ^H2088 who comes ^H935 from Edom ^H123,

With garments ^H899 of [fn]glowing ^H2556 colors ^H2556 from Bozrah ^H1224,

This ^H2088 One ^H2088 who is majestic ^H1921 in His apparel ^H3830,

[fn]Marching ^H6805 in the greatness ^H7230 of His strength ^H3581?

“It is I, the One who speaks ^H1696 in righteousness ^H6666, mighty ^H7227 to save ^H3467.”

2 Why ^H4069 is Your apparel ^H3830 red ^H122,

And Your garments ^H899 like one who treads ^H1869 in the wine ^H1660 press ^H1660?

3 “I have trodden ^H1869 the wine ^H6333 trough ^H6333 alone ^H905,

And from the peoples ^H5971 there ^H369 was ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H376 with Me.

I also trod ^H1869 them in My anger ^H639

And trampled ^H7429 them in My wrath ^H2534;

And their [fn]lifeblood ^H5332 is sprinkled ^H5137 on My garments ^H899,

And I [fn]stained ^H1351 all ^H3605 My clothes ^H4403.

4 “For the day ^H3117 of vengeance ^H5359 was in My heart ^H3820,

And My year ^H8141 of redemption ^H1353 has come ^H935.

5 “I looked ^H5027, but there ^H369 was ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 to help ^H5826,

And I was astonished ^H8074 and there ^H369 was ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 to uphold ^H5564;

So My own arm ^H2220 brought ^H3467 salvation ^H3467 to Me,

And My wrath ^H2534 upheld ^H5564 Me.

6 “I trampled ^H947 down ^H947 the peoples ^H5971 in My anger ^H639

And made ^H7937 them drunk ^H7937 with My wrath ^H2534,

And I [fn]poured ^H3381 out ^H3381 their lifeblood ^H5332 on the earth ^H776.”

God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled

7 I will make ^H2142 mention ^H2142 of the mercies ^H2617 of the LORD ^H3068, and the praises ^H8416 of the LORD ^H3068,

According ^H5921 to all ^H3605 that the LORD ^H3068 has granted ^H1580 us,

And the great ^H7227 goodness ^H2898 toward the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478,

Which ^H834 He has granted ^H1580 them according to His compassion ^H7356

And according to the abundance ^H7230 of His mercies ^H2617.

8 For He said ^H559, “Certainly ^H389 they are My people ^H5971,

Sons ^H1121 who will not deal ^H8266 falsely ^H8266.”

So He became ^H1961 their Savior ^H3467.

9 In all ^H3605 their distress ^H6869 [fn]He was distressed ^H6862,

And the angel ^H4397 of His presence ^H6440 saved ^H3467 them;

In His love ^H160 and in His mercy ^H2551 He redeemed ^H1350 them,

And He lifted ^H5190 them and carried ^H5375 them all ^H3605 the days ^H3117 of old ^H5769.

10 But they rebelled ^H4784

And grieved ^H6087 His Holy ^H6944 Spirit ^H7307;

Therefore He turned ^H2015 Himself to become their enemy ^H340,

He fought ^H3898 against them.

11 Then His people ^H5971 remembered ^H2142 the days ^H3117 of old ^H5769, of Moses ^H4872.

Where ^H346 is He who brought ^H5927 them up ^H5927 out of the sea ^H3220 with the [fn]shepherds ^H7462 of His flock ^H6629?

Where ^H346 is He who put ^H7760 His Holy ^H6944 Spirit ^H7307 in the midst ^H7130 of [fn]them,

12 Who caused His glorious ^H8597 arm ^H2220 to go ^H1980 at the right ^H3225 hand ^H3225 of Moses ^H4872,

Who divided ^H1234 the waters ^H4325 before ^H4480 H6440 them to make ^H6213 for Himself an everlasting ^H5769 name ^H8034,

13 Who led ^H1980 them through the depths ^H8415?

Like the horse ^H5483 in the wilderness ^H4057, they did not stumble ^H3782;

14 Like the cattle ^H929 which go ^H3381 down ^H3381 into the valley ^H1237,

The Spirit ^H7307 of the LORD ^H3068 gave ^H5117 [fn]them rest ^H5117.

So ^H3651 You led ^H5090 Your people ^H5971,

To make ^H6213 for Yourself a glorious ^H8597 name ^H8034.

You Are Our Father

15 Look ^H5027 down ^H5027 from heaven ^H8064 and see ^H7200 from Your holy ^H6944 and glorious ^H8597 lofty ^H2073 habitation ^H2073;

Where ^H346 are Your zeal ^H7068 and Your mighty ^H1369 deeds ^H1369?

The stirrings ^H1995 of Your heart ^H4578 and Your compassion ^H7356 are restrained ^H662 toward ^H413 me.

16 For You are our Father ^H1, though ^H3588 Abraham ^H85 does not know ^H3045 us

And Israel ^H3478 does not recognize ^H5234 us.

You, LORD ^H3068, are our Father ^H1,

Our Redeemer ^H1350 from ancient ^H5769 times ^H5769 is Your name ^H8034.

17 Why ^H4100, LORD ^H3068, do You cause us to stray ^H8582 from Your ways ^H1870

And harden ^H7188 our heart ^H3820 from fearing ^H3374 You?

Return ^H7725 for the sake ^H4616 of Your servants ^H5650, the tribes ^H7626 of Your heritage ^H5159.

18 Your holy ^H6944 people ^H5971 possessed ^H3423 Your sanctuary ^H4720 for a little ^H4705 while ^H4705,

Our adversaries ^H6862 have trampled ^H947 it down ^H947.

19 We have become ^H1961 like those over whom You have never ^{H3808 H4480 H5769} ruled ^H4910,

Like those who were not called ^H7121 by Your name ^H8034.
