Restoration Promised

1 Then the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Jeremiah ^H3414 the second ^H8145 time ^H8145, while he was still ^H5750 confined ^H6113 in the courtyard ^H2691 of the guard ^H4307, saying ^H559,

2 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559, He who made ^H6213 [fn]the earth, the LORD ^H3068 who formed ^H3335 it to create ^H3559 it, He whose name ^H8034 is the LORD ^H3068: 3 ‘Call ^H7121 to Me and I will answer ^H6030 you, and I will tell ^H5046 you great ^H1419 and [fn]mighty ^H1219 things ^H1219, which you do not know ^H3045.’ 4 For this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 says ^H559 concerning ^H5921 the houses ^H1004 of this ^H2088 city ^H5892, and concerning ^H5921 the houses ^H1004 of the kings ^H4428 of Judah ^H3063 which have been torn ^H5422 down ^H5422 to make a defense against ^H413 the assault ^H5550 ramps ^H5550 and the sword ^H2719: 5 ‘While they are coming ^H935 to fight ^H3898 the Chaldeans ^H3778 and to fill ^H4390 [fn]their houses with the bodies ^H6297 of people ^H120 whom ^H834 I have struck ^H5221 down ^H5221 in My anger ^H639 and My wrath ^H2534, and I have hidden ^H5641 My face ^H6440 from this ^H2088 city ^H5892 because ^H5921 of all ^H3605 their wickedness ^H7451: 6 Behold ^H2009, I am going to bring ^H5927 to it healing ^H724 and a remedy ^H4832, and I will heal ^H7495 them; and I will reveal ^H1540 to them an abundance ^H6283 of peace ^H7965 and truth ^H571. 7 And I will restore ^H7725 the fortunes ^H7622 of Judah ^H3063 and the fortunes ^H7622 of Israel ^H3478, and will rebuild ^H1129 them as they were at first ^H7223. 8 And I will cleanse ^H2891 them from all ^H3605 their wrongdoing ^H5771 by which ^H834 they have sinned ^H2398 against Me, and I will forgive ^H5545 all ^H3605 their wrongdoings ^H5771 by which ^H834 they have sinned ^H2398 against Me and revolted ^H6586 against Me. 9 [fn]It will be to Me a name ^H8034 of joy ^H8342, praise ^H8416, and glory ^H8597 before all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471 of the earth ^H776, which ^H834 will hear ^H8085 of all ^H3605 the good ^H2896 that I do ^H6213 for them, and they will be frightened ^H6342 and tremble ^H7264 because ^H5921 of all ^H3605 the good ^H2896 and all ^H3605 the peace ^H7965 that I make ^H6213 for it.’

10 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘Yet again ^H5750 there will be heard ^H8085 in this ^H2088 place ^H4725, of which ^H834 you say ^H559, “It is a waste ^H2720, without ^H369 man ^H120 and without ^H369 animal ^H929,” that is, in the cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063 and in the streets ^H2351 of Jerusalem ^H3389 that are deserted ^H8074, without ^H369 man ^H120 and without ^H369 inhabitant ^H3427 and without ^H369 animal ^H929, 11 the voice ^H6963 of joy ^H8342 and the voice ^H6963 of gladness ^H8057, the voice ^H6963 of the groom ^H2860 and the voice ^H6963 of the bride ^H3618, the voice ^H6963 of those who say ^H559,

“Give ^H3034 thanks ^H3034 to the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635,

For the LORD ^H3068 is good ^H2896,

For His mercy ^H2617 is everlasting ^H5769,”

as they bring ^H935 a thanksgiving ^H8426 offering ^H8426 into the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068. For I will restore ^H7725 the fortunes ^H7622 of the land ^H776 as they were at first ^H7223,’ says ^H559 the LORD ^H3068.

12 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559: ‘There will again ^H5750 be in this ^H2088 place ^H4725 which is waste ^H2720, without ^H4480 H369 man ^H120 or animal ^H929, and in all ^H3605 its cities ^H5892, a pasture ^H5116 for shepherds ^H7462 who rest ^H7257 their flocks ^H6629. 13 In the cities ^H5892 of the hill ^H2022 country ^H2022, in the cities ^H5892 of the lowland ^H8219, in the cities ^H5892 of the Negev ^H5045, in the land ^H776 of Benjamin ^H1144, in the areas ^H5439 surrounding ^H5439 Jerusalem ^H3389, and in the cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063, the flocks ^H6629 will again ^H5750 pass ^H5674 under ^H5921 the hands ^H3027 of the one who counts ^H4487 them,’ says ^H559 the LORD ^H3068.

The Davidic Kingdom

14 ‘Behold ^H2009, days ^H3117 are coming ^H935,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘when I will fulfill ^H6965 the good ^H2896 word ^H1697 which ^H834 I have spoken ^H1696 concerning ^H413 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 and the house ^H1004 of Judah ^H3063.

15 In those ^H1992 days ^H3117 and at that time ^H6256 I will make a righteous ^H6666 Branch ^H6780 of David ^H1732 sprout ^H6779; and He shall execute ^H6213 justice ^H4941 and righteousness ^H6666 on the earth ^H776. 16 In those ^H1992 days ^H3117 Judah ^H3063 will be saved ^H3467 and Jerusalem ^H3389 will live ^H7931 in safety ^H983; and this ^H2088 is the name by which ^H834 it will be called ^H7121: the LORD ^H3068 is our righteousness ^H6664.’ 17 For this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘[fn]David ^H1732 shall not lack ^H3772 a man ^H376 to sit ^H3427 on the throne ^H3678 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478; 18 [fn]and the Levitical ^H3881 priests ^H3548 shall not lack ^H3772 a man ^H376 before ^H4480 H6440 Me to offer ^H5927 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930, to burn ^H6999 grain offerings ^H4503, and to prepare ^H6213 sacrifices ^H2077 [fn]continually ^H3605 H3117.’”

19 And the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Jeremiah ^H3414, saying ^H559, 20 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘If ^H518 you can break ^H6565 My covenant ^H1285 for the day ^H3117 and My covenant ^H1285 for the night ^H3915, so that day ^H3119 and night ^H3915 do not occur ^H1961 at their proper ^H6256 time ^H6256, 21 then My covenant ^H1285 with David ^H1732 My servant ^H5650 may also ^H1571 be broken ^H6565, so that he will not have ^H1961 a son ^H1121 to reign ^H4427 on his throne ^H3678, and with the Levitical ^H3881 priests ^H3548, My ministers ^H8334. 22 As the heavenly ^H8064 [fn]lights ^H6635 cannot ^H3808 be counted ^H5608, and the sand ^H2344 of the sea ^H3220 cannot ^H3808 be measured ^H4058, so ^H3651 I will multiply ^H7235 the [fn]descendants ^H2233 of My servant ^H5650 David ^H1732 and the Levites ^H3881 who serve ^H8334 Me.’”

23 And the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Jeremiah ^H3414, saying ^H559, 24 “Have you not observed ^H7200 what ^H4100 these ^H2088 people ^H5971 have asserted ^H1696, saying ^H559, ‘The two ^H8147 families ^H4940 which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 chose ^H977, He has rejected ^H3988 them’? So they despise ^H5006 My people ^H5971 as no ^H4480 longer ^H5750 being a nation ^H1471 [fn]in their sight ^H6440. 25 This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘If ^H518 My covenant ^H1285 for day ^H3119 and night ^H3915 does not continue, and I have not established ^H7760 the [fn]fixed ^H2708 patterns ^H2708 of heaven ^H8064 and earth ^H776, 26 then ^H1571 I would reject ^H3988 the [fn]descendants ^H2233 of Jacob ^H3290 and David ^H1732 My servant ^H5650, so ^H4480 as ^H4480 not ^H4480 to take ^H3947 from his [fn]descendants ^H2233 rulers ^H4910 over ^H413 the [fn]descendants ^H2233 of Abraham ^H85, Isaac ^H3327, and Jacob ^H3290. But I will restore ^H7725 their fortunes ^H7622 and have ^H7355 mercy ^H7355 on ^H7355 them.’”
