Jephthah and His Successors

1 Now the men ^H376 of Ephraim ^H669 were summoned ^H6817, and they crossed ^H5674 [fn]to Zaphon ^H6829; and they said ^H559 to Jephthah ^H3316, “Why ^H4069 did you cross ^H5674 over ^H5674 to fight ^H3898 against the sons ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 without ^H3808 calling ^H7121 us to go ^H1980 with you? We will burn ^H8313 H784 your house ^H1004 down ^H8313 on you!”

2 So Jephthah ^H3316 said ^H559 to them, “I and my people ^H5971 were in a major ^H3966 dispute ^H7379 with the sons ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983; and I did call ^H2199 you, but you did not save ^H3467 me from their hand ^H3027. 3 When I saw ^H7200 that you were no ^H369 deliverer ^H3467, I [fn]took ^H7760 my life ^H5315 in my hands ^H3709 and crossed ^H5674 over ^H5674 against ^H413 the sons ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983, and the LORD ^H3068 handed ^H5414 H3027 them over ^H5414 to me. 13 Now Abdon ^H5658 the son ^H1121 of Hillel ^H1985 the Pirathonite ^H6553 judged ^H8199 Israel ^H3478 after ^H310 him. 14 He had ^H1961 forty ^H705 sons ^H1121 and thirty ^H7970 grandsons ^H1121 who rode ^H7392 on seventy ^H7657 donkeys ^H5895; and he judged ^H8199 Israel ^H3478 for eight ^H8083 years ^H8141. 15 Then Abdon ^H5658 the son ^H1121 of Hillel ^H1985 the Pirathonite ^H6553 died ^H4191 and was buried ^H6912 at Pirathon ^H6552 in the land ^H776 of Ephraim ^H669, in the hill ^H2022 country ^H2022 of the Amalekites ^H6003.
