David’s Address about the Temple

1 Now David ^H1732 assembled ^H6950 at Jerusalem ^H3389 all ^H3605 the officials ^H8269 of Israel ^H3478, the leaders ^H8269 of the tribes ^H7626, and the commanders ^H8269 of the divisions ^H4256 that served ^H8334 the king ^H4428, the commanders ^H8269 of thousands ^H505, and the commanders ^H8269 of hundreds ^H3967, and the overseers ^H8269 of all ^H3605 the property ^H7399 and livestock ^H4735 belonging to the king ^H4428 and his sons ^H1121, with the officials ^H5631 and the mighty ^H1368 men ^H1368, all ^H3605 the valiant ^H2428 warriors ^H1368.

2 Then King ^H4428 David ^H1732 rose ^H6965 to his feet ^H7272 and said ^H559, “Listen ^H8085 to me, my brothers ^H251 and my people ^H5971; [fn]I had intended ^H3824 to build ^H1129 a [fn]permanent ^H4496 home ^H1004 for the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of the LORD ^H3068 and for the footstool ^H1916 H7272 of our God ^H430. So I had made ^H3559 preparations ^H3559 to build ^H1129 it. 3 But God ^H430 said ^H559 to me, ‘You shall not build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for My name ^H8034, because ^H3588 you are a man ^H376 of war ^H4421 and have shed ^H8210 blood ^H1818.’ 4 Yet, the LORD ^H3068, the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478, chose ^H977 me from all ^H3605 the household ^H1004 of my father ^H1 to be king ^H4428 over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478 forever ^H5769. For He has chosen ^H977 Judah ^H3063 to be a leader ^H5057; and in the house ^H1004 of Judah ^H3063, my father’s ^H1 house ^H1004, and among the sons ^H1121 of my father ^H1 He took ^H7521 pleasure ^H7521 in me to make ^H4427 me king ^H4427 over ^H5921 all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478. 5 Of all ^H3605 my sons ^H1121 (for the LORD ^H3068 has given ^H5414 me many ^H7227 sons ^H1121), He has chosen ^H977 my son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010 to sit ^H3427 on the throne ^H3678 of the kingdom ^H4438 of the LORD ^H3068 over ^H5921 Israel ^H3478. 6 He said ^H559 to me, ‘Your son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010 is the one who ^H1931 shall build ^H1129 My house ^H1004 and My courtyards ^H2691; for I have chosen ^H977 him to be a son ^H1121 to Me, and I will be a Father ^H1 to him. 7 I will establish ^H3559 his kingdom ^H4438 forever ^H5704 H5769 if ^H518 he resolutely ^H2388 performs ^H6213 My commandments ^H4687 and My ordinances ^H4941, as [fn]is done now ^H3117.’ 8 So now ^H6258, in the sight ^H5869 of all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478, the assembly ^H6951 of the LORD ^H3068, and in the [fn]presence ^H241 of our God ^H430, keep ^H8104 and seek ^H1875 after ^H1875 all ^H3605 the commandments ^H4687 of the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 so ^H4616 that ^H4616 you may possess ^H5157 the good ^H2896 land ^H776 and leave ^H5157 it as ^H5157 an ^H5157 inheritance ^H5157 to your sons ^H1121 after ^H310 you forever ^H5704 H5769.

9 “As for you, my son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010, know ^H3045 the God ^H430 of your father ^H1, and serve ^H5647 Him wholeheartedly ^H8003 H3820 and with a willing ^H2655 [fn]mind ^H5315; for the LORD ^H3068 searches ^H1875 all ^H3605 hearts ^H3824, and understands ^H995 every ^H3605 intent ^H3336 of the thoughts ^H4284. If ^H518 you seek ^H1875 Him, He will let you find ^H4672 Him; but if ^H518 you forsake ^H5800 Him, He will reject ^H2186 you forever ^H5703. 10 Consider ^H7200 now ^H6258, for the LORD ^H3068 has chosen ^H977 you to build ^H1129 a house ^H1004 for the sanctuary ^H4720; be ^H2388 courageous ^H2388 and act ^H6213.”

11 Then David ^H1732 gave ^H5414 to his son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010 the plan ^H8403 of the porch ^H197 of the temple, its buildings ^H1004, its storehouses ^H1597, its upper ^H5944 rooms ^H5944, its inner ^H6442 rooms ^H2315, and the room ^H1004 for the [fn]atoning ^H3727 cover ^H3727; 12 and the plan ^H8403 of all ^H3605 that he had ^H1961 in [fn]mind ^H7307, for the courtyards ^H2691 of the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068, and for all ^H3605 the surrounding ^H5439 rooms ^H3957, for the storehouses ^H214 of the house ^H1004 of God ^H430 and for the storehouses ^H214 of the dedicated ^H6944 things ^H6944; 13 also for the divisions ^H4256 of the priests ^H3548 and the Levites ^H3881 and for all ^H3605 the work ^H4399 of the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068 and for all ^H3605 the utensils ^H3627 of service ^H5656 in the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068; 14 for the golden ^H2091 utensils, by weight ^H4948 of gold ^H2091 for all ^H3605 utensils ^H3627 for every ^H5656 service ^H5656; for all ^H3605 the silver ^H3701 utensils ^H3627, by weight ^H4948 of silver for all ^H3605 utensils ^H3627 for every ^H5656 service ^H5656; 15 and the weight ^H4948 of gold for the golden ^H2091 lampstands ^H4501 and their golden ^H2091 lamps ^H5216, with the weight ^H4948 of each lampstand ^H4501 and its lamps ^H5216; and the weight of silver for the silver ^H3701 lampstands ^H4501, with the weight ^H4948 of each lampstand ^H4501 and its lamps ^H5216 according to the use ^H5656 of each ^H4501 lampstand ^H4501; 16 and the gold ^H2091 by weight ^H4948 for the tables ^H7979 of the showbread ^H4635, for each ^H7979 table ^H7979; and silver ^H3701 for the silver ^H3701 tables ^H7979; 17 and the forks ^H4207, the basins ^H4219, and the pitchers ^H7184 of pure ^H2889 gold ^H2091; and for the golden ^H2091 bowls ^H3713 with the weight ^H4948 for each ^H3713 bowl ^H3713; and for the silver ^H3701 bowls ^H3713 with the weight ^H4948 for each ^H3713 bowl ^H3713; 18 and for the altar ^H4196 of incense ^H7004, refined ^H2212 gold ^H2091 by weight ^H4948; and gold ^H2091 for the model ^H8403 of the chariot ^H4818, and the cherubim ^H3742 that spread ^H6566 out ^H6566 their wings and covered ^H5526 the ark ^H727 of the covenant ^H1285 of the LORD ^H3068.

19 “All ^H3605 this,” said David, “the LORD ^H3068 made me understand ^H7919 in writing ^H3791 by His hand ^H3027 upon me, all ^H3605 the [fn]details ^H4399 of this pattern ^H8403.”

20 Then David ^H1732 said ^H559 to his son ^H1121 Solomon ^H8010, “Be strong ^H2388 and courageous ^H553, and act ^H6213; do not fear ^H3372 nor ^H408 be dismayed ^H2865, for the LORD ^H3068 God ^H430, my God ^H430, is with you. He will not fail ^H7503 you nor ^H3808 forsake ^H5800 you until ^H5704 all ^H3605 the work ^H4399 for the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068 is finished ^H3615. 21 Now behold ^H2009, there are the divisions ^H4256 of the priests ^H3548 and the Levites ^H3881 for all ^H3605 the service ^H5656 of the house ^H1004 of God ^H430, and every ^H3605 willing ^H5081 man ^H5081 of any ^H3605 skill ^H2451 will be with you in all ^H3605 the work ^H4399 for all ^H3605 kinds of service ^H5656. The officials ^H8269 also and all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 will be entirely ^H3605 at your command ^H1697.”
