Paul in Corinth
1 After G3326 these G3778 events Paul left G5563 Athens G116 and went G2064 to Corinth G2882.
2 And he found G2147 a Jew G2453 named G3686 Aquila G207, a native G1085 of Pontus G4193 having recently G4373 come G2064 from Italy G2482 with his wife G1135 Priscilla G4251, because G1223 Claudius G2804 had commanded G1299 all G3956 the Jews G2453 to leave G5563 Rome G4516. He came G4334 to them, 3 and because G1223 he was of the same G3673 trade G3673 he stayed G3306 with them, and they worked G2038 together, for they were tent-makers G4635 by trade G5078. 4 And Paul was reasoning G1256 in the synagogue G4864 every G3956 Sabbath G4521 and trying to persuade G3982 Jews G2453 and Greeks G1672.
5 But when G5613 Silas G4609 and Timothy G5095 came G2718 down G2718 from Macedonia G3109, Paul G3972 began devoting G4912 himself completely G4912 to the word G3056, testifying G1263 to the Jews G2453 that Jesus G2424 was the [fn]Christ G5547. 6 But when they resisted G498 and blasphemed G987, he shook G1621 out G1621 his garments G2440 and said G3004 to them, “Your blood G129 is [fn]on your own heads G2776! I am clean G2513. From now G3568 on I will go G4198 to the Gentiles G1484.” 7 Then G2532 he left G3327 [fn]the synagogue and went G2064 to the house G3614 of a man G5100 named G3686 [fn]Titius G6084 Justus G2459, a worshiper G4576 of God G2316, whose G3739 house G3614 was next G4927 door G4927 to the synagogue G4864. 8 Crispus G2921, the leader G752 of G752 the G752 synagogue G752, believed G4100 in the Lord G2962 together G4862 with G4862 his entire G3650 household G3624; and many G4183 of the Corinthians G2881, as they listened G191 to Paul, were believing G4100 and being baptized G907. 9 And the Lord G2962 said G3004 to Paul G3972 by a vision G3705 at night G3571, “Do not be G5399 afraid G5399 any longer, but go on speaking G2980 and do not be silent G4623; 10 for I am G1510 with you, and no G3762 one G3762 will attack G2007 you to harm G2559 you, for I have many G4183 people G2992 in this G3778 city G4172.” 11 And he settled G2523 there for a year G1763 and six G1803 months G3376, teaching G1321 the word G3056 of God G2316 among G1722 them.
12 But while Gallio G1058 was proconsul G446 of Achaia G882, the Jews G2453 rose G2721 up G2721 together G3661 against G2721 Paul G3972 and brought G71 him before G1909 the [fn]judgment G968 seat G968, 13 saying G3004, “This G3778 man G3778 is inciting G374 the people G444 to worship G4576 God G2316 contrary G3844 to the [fn]law G3551.” 14 But when Paul G3972 was G3195 about G3195 to G3195 open G455 his mouth G4750, Gallio G1058 said G3004 to the Jews G2453, “If G1487 it were a matter of some G5100 crime G92 or G2228 vicious G4190, unscrupulous G4467 act G4467, O G5599 Jews G2453, it would be reasonable G3056 for me to put G430 up G430 with you; 15 but if G1487 there are [fn]questions G2213 about G4012 [fn]teaching G3056 and [fn]persons G3686 and your own law G3551, see G3708 to G3708 it yourselves G846; I am G1014 unwilling G3756 G1014 to be a judge G2923 of these G3778 matters.” 16 And he drove G556 them away G556 from the [fn]judgment G968 seat G968. 17 But they all G3956 took G1949 hold G1949 of Sosthenes G4988, the leader G752 of G752 the G752 synagogue G752, and began beating G5180 him in front G1715 of the judgment G968 seat G968. And yet Gallio G1058 was not concerned G3199 about G3199 any G3762 of these G3778 things G3778.
18 Now Paul G3972, when he had remained G4357 many G2425 days G2250 longer G2089, took G657 leave G657 of the brothers G80 and sisters and sailed G1602 away G1602 to Syria G4947, and Priscilla G4251 and Aquila G207 were with him. [fn]Paul first had his hair G2776 cut G2751 at Cenchrea G2747, for he was keeping G2192 a vow G2171. 19 They came G2658 to Ephesus G2181, and he left G2641 them there G847. Now G1161 he himself G846 entered G1525 the synagogue G4864 and reasoned G1256 with the Jews G2453. 20 When they asked G2065 him to stay G3306 for a longer G4183 time G5550, he did not consent G1962, 21 but took G657 leave G657 of them and said G3004, “I will return G344 to you again G3825 if God G2316 wills G2309,” and he set G321 sail G321 from Ephesus G2181.
22 When he had landed G2718 in Caesarea G2542, he went G305 up G305 to Jerusalem and greeted G782 the church G1577, and went G2597 down G2597 to Antioch G490.
Third Missionary Journey
23 And after spending G4160 some G5100 time G5550 there, he left G1831 and passed G1330 successively G2517 through G1330 the Galatian G1054 region G5561 and Phrygia G5435, strengthening G4741 all G3956 the disciples G3101.
24 Now G1161 a Jew G2453 named G3686 Apollos G625, an Alexandrian G221 by birth G1085, [fn]an eloquent G3052 man G435, came G2658 to Ephesus G2181; and he was proficient G1415 in the Scriptures G1124. 25 This G3778 man G3778 had been G1510 instructed G2727 in the way G3598 of the Lord G2962; and being G2204 fervent G2204 in spirit G4151, he was accurately G199 speaking G2980 and teaching G1321 things about G4012 Jesus G2424, being G1987 acquainted G1987 only G3440 with the baptism G908 of John G2491; 26 and [fn]he began G757 speaking G3955 boldly G3955 in the synagogue G4864. But when Priscilla G4251 and Aquila G207 heard G191 him, they took G4355 him aside G4355 and explained G1620 the way G3598 of God G2316 more G199 accurately G199 to him. 27 And when he wanted G1014 to go G1330 across G1330 to Achaia G882, the brothers G80 encouraged G4389 him and wrote G1125 to the disciples G3101 to welcome G588 him; and when he had arrived G3854, he greatly G4183 [fn]helped G4820 those G3588 who had believed G4100 through G1223 grace G5485, 28 for he powerfully G2159 refuted G1246 the Jews G2453 in public G1219, demonstrating G1925 by the Scriptures G1124 that Jesus G2424 was the [fn]Christ G5547.
