“Carefree in Zion”

1 Woe ^H1945 to those who are carefree ^H7600 in Zion ^H6726,

And to those who feel ^H982 secure ^H982 on the mountain ^H2022 of Samaria ^H8111,

The dignitaries ^H5344 of the foremost ^H7225 of nations ^H1471,

To whom ^H1992 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 comes ^H935.

2 Go ^H5674 over ^H5674 to Calneh ^H3641 and look ^H7200,

And go ^H1980 from there ^H8033 to Hamath ^H2574 the great ^H7227,

Then go ^H3381 down ^H3381 to Gath ^H1661 of the Philistines ^H6430.

Are [fn]they better ^H2896 than ^H4480 these ^H428 kingdoms ^H4467,

Or ^H518 is their territory ^H1366 greater ^H7227 than ^H4480 yours?

3 Are you postponing ^H5077 the day ^H3117 of disaster ^H7451,

And would you bring ^H5066 near ^H5066 the seat ^H7675 of violence ^H2555?

4 Those who lie ^H7901 on beds ^H4296 of ivory ^H8127,

And lounge ^H5628 around ^H5628 on their couches ^H6210,

And eat ^H398 lambs ^H3733 from the flock ^H6629,

And calves ^H5695 from the midst ^H8432 of the fattened ^H4770 cattle ^H4770,

5 Who improvise ^H6527 to the sound ^H6310 of the harp ^H5035,

And like David ^H1732 have [fn]composed ^H2803 songs ^H3627 H7892 for themselves,

6 Who drink ^H8354 wine ^H3196 from sacred ^H4219 bowls ^H4219

While they anoint ^H4886 themselves with the finest ^H7225 of oils ^H8081—

Yet they have not grieved ^H2470 over ^H5921 the collapse ^H7667 of Joseph ^H3130.

7 Therefore ^H3651, they will now ^H6258 go ^H1540 into ^H1540 exile ^H1540 at the head ^H7218 of the exiles ^H1540,

12 Do horses ^H5483 run ^H7323 on rocks ^H5553?

Or ^H518 does one [fn]plow ^H2790 them with oxen ^H1241?

Yet ^H3588 you have turned ^H2015 justice ^H4941 into poison ^H7219,

And the fruit ^H6529 of righteousness ^H6666 into [fn]wormwood ^H3939,

13 You who rejoice ^H8056 in [fn]Lodebar ^H3810,

[fn]And say ^H559, “Have we not by our own strength ^H2392 taken ^H3947 [fn]Karnaim ^H7161 for ourselves?”

14 “For behold ^H2009, I am going to raise ^H6965 up ^H6965 a nation ^H1471 against ^H5921 you,

House ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 God ^H430 of armies ^H6635,

“And they will torment ^H3905 you from the entrance ^H935 of Hamath ^H2574

To the brook ^H5158 of the Arabah ^H6160.”
