Cast Your Bread on the Waters
Cast H7971 your bread H3899 on the surface H6440 of the waters H4325, for you will find H4672 it [fn]after many H7230 days H3117.
Divide H5414 your portion H2506 to seven H7651, or even H1571 to eight H8083, for you do not know H3045 what H4100 misfortune H7451 may occur H1961 on the earth H776. 3 If H518 the clouds H5645 are full H4390, they pour H7324 out H7324 rain H1653 on the earth H776; and whether H518 a tree H6086 falls H5307 toward the south H1864 or toward the north H6828, wherever H4725 the tree H6086 falls H5307, there H8033 it [fn]lies H1961. 4 One who watches H8104 the wind H7307 will not sow H2232 and one who looks H7200 at the clouds H5645 will not harvest H7114. 5 Just H834 as H834 you do not know H3045 the path H1870 of the [fn]wind H7307, and how bones H6106 are formed in the womb H990 of the [fn]pregnant H4392 woman H4392, so H3602 you do not know H3045 the activity H4639 of God H430 who H834 makes H6213 everything H3605.
Sow H2232 your seed H2233 in the morning H1242 and do not [fn]be H5117 idle H5117 H3027 in the evening H6153, for you do not know H3045 whether H335 [fn]one H2088 or H176 the other H2088 will succeed H3787, or whether H518 both H8147 of them alike H259 will be good H2896.
The light H216 is pleasant H4966, and it is good H2896 for the eyes H5869 to see H7200 the sun H8121. 8 Indeed H3588, if H518 a person H120 lives H2421 many H7235 years H8141, let him rejoice H8055 in them all H3605; but let him remember H2142 the days H3117 of darkness H2822, for they will be many H7235. Everything H3605 that is to come H935 will be futility H1892.
Rejoice H8055, young H970 man H970, during your childhood H3208, and let your heart H3820 be H3190 pleasant H3190 during the days H3117 of young H979 manhood H979. And follow H1980 the [fn]impulses H1870 of your heart H3820 and the [fn]desires H4758 of your eyes H5869. Yet know H3045 that God H430 will bring H935 you to judgment H4941 for all H3605 these H428 things H428. 10 So remove H5493 [fn]sorrow H3708 from your heart H3820 and keep H5674 [fn]pain H7451 away H5674 from your body H1320, because H3588 childhood H3208 and the prime H7839 of H7839 life H7839 are [fn]fleeting H1892.
