Garments of the Priests
1 “Then bring H7126 forward H7126 to yourself your brother H251 Aaron H175, and his sons H1121 with him, from among H8432 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478, to serve H3547 as H3547 priest H3547 to Me—Aaron H175, Nadab H5070 and Abihu H30, Eleazar H499 and Ithamar H385, Aaron’s H175 sons H1121.
2 And you shall make H6213 holy H6944 garments H899 for Aaron H175 your brother H251, for glory H3519 and for beauty H8597. 3 You shall speak H1696 to all H3605 the [fn]skillful H2450 H3820 people H2450 whom H834 I have endowed H4390 with [fn]the spirit H7307 of wisdom H2451, that they make H6213 Aaron’s H175 garments H899 to consecrate H6942 him, that he may serve H3547 as H3547 priest H3547 to Me. 4 And these H428 are the garments H899 which H834 they shall make H6213: a [fn]breastpiece H2833, an ephod H646, a robe H4598, a tunic H3801 of checkered H8665 work H8665, a turban H4701, and a sash H73. They shall make H6213 holy H6944 garments H899 for your brother H251 Aaron H175 and his sons H1121, so that he may serve H3547 as H3547 priest H3547 to Me. 5 They shall take H3947 the gold H2091, the [fn]violet H8504, the purple H713, the scarlet H8144 material, and the fine H8336 linen H8336.
6 “They shall also make H6213 the ephod H646 of gold H2091, of violet H8504, purple H713, and scarlet H8144 material, and fine H8336 twisted H7806 linen H8336, the work H4639 of the skilled H2803 embroiderer H2803. 7 It shall have H1961 two H8147 shoulder H3802 pieces joined H2266 to its two H8147 ends H7098, so that it may be joined H2266. 8 The skillfully H2805 woven H2805 band H2805 of its overlay H642, which H834 is on it, shall be like its workmanship H4639, [fn]of the same H4480 material: of gold H2091, of violet H8504 and purple H713 and scarlet H8144 material and fine H8336 twisted H7806 linen H8336. 9 And you shall take H3947 two H8147 onyx H7718 stones H68 and engrave H6605 on them the names H8034 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478, 10 six H8337 of their names H8034 on the one H259 stone H68 and the names H8034 of the remaining H3498 six H8337 on the [fn]other H8145 stone H68, according to their birth H8435. 11 [fn]As a jeweler H2796 H68 engraves H6603 a signet H2368, you shall engrave H6605 the two H8147 stones H68 according H5921 to the names H8034 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478; you shall [fn]set H6213 H5437 them in filigree H4865 settings H4865 of gold H2091. 12 And you shall put H7760 the two H8147 stones H68 on the shoulder H3802 pieces of the ephod H646, as stones H68 of memorial H2146 for the sons H1121 of Israel H3478, and Aaron H175 shall carry H5375 their names H8034 before H6440 the LORD H3068 on his two H8147 shoulders H3802 as a memorial H2146. 13 And you shall make H6213 filigree H4865 settings H4865 of gold H2091, 14 and two H8147 chains H8333 of pure H2889 gold H2091; you shall make H6213 them of twisted H4020 cord H5688 work H4639, and you shall put H5414 the corded H5688 chains H8333 on the filigree H4865 settings H4865.
15 “You shall make H6213 a [fn]breastpiece H2833 of judgment H4941, the work H4639 of a skilled H2803 embroiderer H2803; like the work H4639 of the ephod H646 you shall make H6213 it: of gold H2091, of violet H8504, purple H713, and scarlet H8144 material, and fine H8336 twisted H7806 linen H8336 you shall make H6213 it. 16 It shall be square H7251 and folded H3717 double H3717, a [fn]span H2239 [fn]in length H753 and a [fn]span H2239 [fn]in width H7341. 17 And you shall [fn]mount H4390 H4396 on it four H702 rows H2905 of stones H68; the first H259 row H2905 shall be a row H2905 of ruby H124, topaz H6357, and emerald H1304; 18 and the second H8145 row H2905 a turquoise H5306, a sapphire H5601, and a diamond H3095; 19 and the third H7992 row H2905 a jacinth H3958, an agate H7618, and an amethyst H306; 20 and the fourth H7243 row H2905 a beryl H8658, and an onyx H7718, and a jasper H3471; they shall be set H7660 in gold H2091 filigree H4396. 21 The stones H68 shall be engraved according H5921 to the names H8034 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478: twelve H8147 H6240, according H5921 to their names H8034; they shall be like the engravings H6603 of a signet H2368, each H376 according H5921 to his name H8034 for the twelve H8147 H6240 tribes H7626. 22 You shall also make H6213 on the [fn]breastpiece H2833 twisted H1383 chains H8333 of cord H5688 work H4639 in pure H2889 gold H2091. 23 And you shall make H6213 on the breastpiece H2833 two H8147 rings H2885 of gold H2091, and shall put H5414 the two H8147 rings H2885 on the two H8147 ends H7098 of the breastpiece H2833. 24 And you shall put H5414 the two H8147 cords H5688 of gold H2091 on the two H8147 rings H2885 at the ends H7098 of the breastpiece H2833. 25 You shall put H5414 the other two H8147 ends H7098 of the two H8147 cords H5688 on the two H8147 filigree H4865 settings, and put H5414 them on the shoulder H3802 pieces of the ephod H646, at the front H6440 of it. 26 And you shall make H6213 two H8147 rings H2885 of gold H2091 and place H7760 them on the two H8147 ends H7098 of the breastpiece H2833, on the edge H8193 of it, which H834 is toward H413 the inner H1004 side H5676 of the ephod H646. 27 And you shall make H6213 two H8147 rings H2885 of gold H2091 and put H5414 them on the bottom H4295 of the two H8147 shoulder H3802 pieces of the ephod H646, on the front H6440 of it close H5980 to the place H4225 where H4225 it is joined H4225, above H4480 H4605 the skillfully H2805 woven H2805 band H2805 of the ephod H646. 28 And they shall bind H7405 the breastpiece H2833 by its rings H2885 to the rings H2885 of the ephod H646 with a violet H8504 cord H6616, so that it will be on the skillfully H2805 woven H2805 band H2805 of the ephod H646, and that the breastpiece H2833 will not come H2118 loose H2118 from the ephod H646. 29 So Aaron H175 shall carry H5375 the names H8034 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 in the breastpiece H2833 of judgment H4941 over H5921 his heart H3820 when he enters H935 the Holy H6944 Place H6944, as a memorial H2146 before H6440 the LORD H3068 continually H8548. 30 And you shall put H5414 in the breastpiece H2833 of judgment H4941 the [fn]Urim H224 and the Thummim H8550, and they shall be over H5921 Aaron’s H175 heart H3820 when he goes H935 in H935 before H6440 the LORD H3068; and Aaron H175 shall carry H5375 the judgment H4941 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 over H5921 his heart H3820 before H6440 the LORD H3068 continually H8548.
31 “You shall make H6213 the robe H4598 of the ephod H646 all H3632 of violet H8504. 32 There shall be an opening H6310 [fn]at its top H7218 in the middle H8432 of it; around H5439 its opening H6310 there shall be a binding H8193 of woven H707 work H4639, like the opening H6310 of a coat H8473 of H8473 mail H8473, so that it will not be torn H7167. 33 You shall make H6213 on its hem H7757 pomegranates H7416 of violet H8504, purple H713, and scarlet H8144 material all H5439 around H5439 on its hem H7757, and bells H6472 of gold H2091 between H8432 them all H5439 around H5439: 34 a golden H2091 bell H6472 and a pomegranate H7416, a golden H2091 bell H6472 and a pomegranate H7416, all H5439 around H5439 on the hem H7757 of the robe H4598. 35 It shall be on Aaron H175 [fn]when he ministers H8334; and its sound H6963 shall be heard H8085 when he enters H935 and leaves H3318 the Holy H6944 Place H6944 before H6440 the LORD H3068, so that he will not die H4191.
36 “You shall also make H6213 a plate H6731 of pure H2889 gold H2091 and engrave H6605 on it, like the engravings H6603 of a signet H2368, ‘Holy H6944 to the LORD H3068.’ 37 You shall [fn]fasten H7760 it on a violet H8504 cord H6616, and it shall be on the turban H4701; it shall be at the front H6440 of the turban H4701. 38 It shall be on Aaron’s H175 forehead H4696, and Aaron H175 shall [fn]take H5375 away the guilt H5771 of the holy H6944 things H6944 which H834 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 consecrate H6942, regarding all H3605 their holy H6944 gifts H4979; and it shall always H8548 be on his forehead H4696, so that they may be accepted H7522 before H6440 the LORD H3068.
39 “And you shall weave H7660 the tunic H3801 of H7660 checkered H7660 work H7660 of fine H8336 linen H8336, and shall make H6213 a turban H4701 of fine H8336 linen H8336, and you shall make H6213 a sash H73, the work H4639 of a [fn]weaver H7551.
40 “For Aaron’s H175 sons H1121 you shall also make H6213 tunics H3801; you shall also make H6213 sashes H73 for them, and you shall make H6213 [fn]caps H4021 for them, for glory H3519 and for beauty H8597. 41 Then you shall put H3847 them on H3847 Aaron H175 your brother H251 and on his sons H1121 with him; and you shall anoint H4886 them and [fn]ordain H4390 H3027 them and consecrate H6942 them, so that they may serve H3547 Me as H3547 priests H3547. 42 You shall make H6213 for them linen H906 undergarments H4370 to cover H3680 their bare H6172 flesh H1320; they shall [fn]reach H1961 from the waist H4975 even to the thighs H3409. 43 And they shall be on Aaron H175 and on his sons H1121 when they enter H935 the tent H168 of meeting H4150, or H176 when they approach H5066 the altar H4196 to minister H8334 in the Holy H6944 Place H6944, so that they do not incur H5375 [fn]guilt H5771 and die H4191. It shall be a statute H2708 forever H5769 to him and to his [fn]descendants H2233 after H310 him.
