Evil Rulers to Be Judged

1 Now the Spirit ^H7307 lifted ^H5375 me up ^H5375 and brought ^H935 me to the east ^H6931 gate ^H8179 of the LORD’S ^H3068 house ^H1004 which faced ^H6437 eastward ^H6931. And behold ^H2009, there were twenty-five ^H6242 H2568 men ^H376 at the entrance ^H6607 of the gate ^H8179, and among ^H8432 them I saw ^H7200 Jaazaniah ^H2970 son ^H1121 of Azzur ^H5809 and Pelatiah ^H6410 son ^H1121 of Benaiah ^H1141, leaders ^H8269 of the people ^H5971.

2 Then He said ^H559 to me, “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, these ^H428 are the men ^H376 who devise ^H2803 wrongdoing ^H205 and give ^H3289 evil ^H7451 advice ^H6098 in this ^H2088 city ^H5892, 3 who say ^H559, ‘The time is not near ^H7138 to build ^H1129 houses ^H1004. [fn]This ^H1931 city is the pot ^H5518 and we are the meat ^H1320.’ 4 Therefore ^H3651, prophesy ^H5012 against ^H5921 them, prophesy ^H5012, son ^H1121 of man ^H120!”

5 Then the Spirit ^H7307 of the LORD ^H3068 fell ^H5307 upon me, and He said ^H559 to me, “Say ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559: “This ^H3651 is ^H3651 how ^H3651 you think ^H559, house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478, for I know ^H3045 [fn]your thoughts ^H4609 H7307. 6 You have multiplied ^H7235 your slain ^H2491 in this ^H2088 city ^H5892, and filled ^H4390 its streets ^H2351 with [fn]them.” 7 Therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “Your slain ^H2491 whom ^H834 you have laid ^H7760 in the midst ^H8432 of [fn]the city are the meat ^H1320 and this ^H1931 city is the pot ^H5518; but [fn]I will bring ^H3318 you out ^H3318 of it. 8 You have feared ^H3372 a sword ^H2719; so I will bring ^H935 a sword ^H2719 upon you,” the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 declares ^H5002. 9 “And I will bring ^H3318 you out ^H3318 of the midst ^H8432 of [fn]the city, and hand ^H5414 H3027 you over ^H5414 to strangers ^H2114, and execute ^H6213 judgments ^H8201 against you. 10 You will fall ^H5307 by the sword ^H2719. I will judge ^H8199 you to the border ^H1366 of Israel ^H3478; so you shall know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068. 11 This ^H1931 city will not be a pot ^H5518 for you, nor ^H3808 will you be meat ^H1320 in the midst ^H8432 of it; I will judge ^H8199 you to the border ^H1366 of Israel ^H3478. 12 So you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068; for you have not walked ^H1980 in My statutes ^H2706, nor ^H3808 have you executed ^H6213 My ordinances ^H4941, but you have acted ^H6213 in accordance with the ordinances ^H4941 of the nations ^H1471 around ^H5439 you.”’”

13 Now it came ^H1961 about ^H1961, as I prophesied ^H5012, that Pelatiah ^H6410 son ^H1121 of Benaiah ^H1141 died ^H4191. Then I fell ^H5307 on my face ^H6440 and cried ^H2199 out ^H2199 with a loud ^H1419 voice ^H6963, and said ^H559, “Oh ^H162, Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068! Will You bring ^H6213 the remnant ^H7611 of Israel ^H3478 to a complete ^H3617 destruction ^H3617?”

Promise of Restoration

14 Then the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559,

15 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, your brothers ^H251, your relatives ^H251, [fn]your fellow ^H376 exiles ^H1546, and the entire ^H3605 house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478, all ^H3605 of them, are those to whom ^H834 the inhabitants ^H3427 of Jerusalem ^H3389 have said ^H559, ‘Keep ^H7368 far ^H7368 from the LORD ^H3068; this ^H1931 land ^H776 has been given ^H5414 to us as a possession ^H4181.’ 16 Therefore ^H3651 say ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “Though ^H3588 I had removed ^H7368 them far ^H7368 away among the nations ^H1471, and though ^H3588 I had scattered ^H6327 them among the countries ^H776, yet I was a sanctuary ^H4720 for them for a little ^H4592 while ^H4592 in the countries ^H776 where ^H834 H8033 they had gone ^H935.”’ 17 Therefore ^H3651 say ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “I will gather ^H6908 you from the peoples ^H5971 and assemble ^H622 you from the countries ^H776 among which ^H834 you have been scattered ^H6327, and I will give ^H5414 you the land ^H127 of Israel ^H3478.”’ 18 When they come ^H935 there ^H8033, they will remove ^H5493 all ^H3605 its detestable ^H8251 things ^H8251 and all ^H3605 its abominations ^H8441 from it. 19 And I will give ^H5414 them one ^H259 heart ^H3820, and put ^H5414 a new ^H2319 spirit ^H7307 within ^H7130 [fn]them. And I will remove ^H5493 the heart ^H3820 of stone ^H68 from their flesh ^H1320 and give ^H5414 them a heart ^H3820 of flesh ^H1320, 20 so ^H4616 that ^H4616 they may walk ^H1980 in My statutes ^H2708, and keep ^H8104 My ordinances ^H4941 and do ^H6213 them. Then they will be My people ^H5971, and I shall be their God ^H430. 21 [fn]But as for those whose hearts ^H3820 go ^H1980 after their detestable ^H8251 things ^H8251 and abominations ^H8441, I will [fn]bring ^H5414 their conduct ^H1870 down ^H5414 on their heads ^H7218,” declares ^H5002 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068.

22 Then the cherubim ^H3742 lifted ^H5375 up ^H5375 their wings ^H3671 with the wheels ^H212 beside ^H5980 them, and the glory ^H3519 of the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 [fn]hovered ^H4480 H4605 over ^H5921 them. 23 The glory ^H3519 of the LORD ^H3068 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 from the midst ^H8432 of the city ^H5892 and stood ^H5975 over ^H5921 the mountain ^H2022 which ^H834 is east ^H6924 of the city ^H5892. 24 And the Spirit ^H7307 lifted ^H5375 me up ^H5375 and brought ^H935 me in a vision ^H4758 by the Spirit ^H7307 of God ^H430 to [fn]Chaldea ^H3778, to the exiles ^H1473. Then the vision ^H4758 that I had seen ^H7200 [fn]left ^H5927 H4480 me. 25 And I told ^H1696 the exiles ^H1473 all ^H3605 the things ^H1697 that the LORD ^H3068 had shown ^H7200 me.
