False Prophets Condemned

1 Then the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559,

2 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, prophesy ^H5012 against ^H413 the prophets ^H5030 of Israel ^H3478 who prophesy ^H5012, and say ^H559 to those who prophesy ^H5030 from their own [fn]inspiration ^H3820, ‘Listen ^H8085 to the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068! 3 This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “Woe ^H1945 to the foolish ^H5036 prophets ^H5030 who ^H834 are following ^H1980 H310 their own spirit ^H7307 and have seen ^H7200 nothing ^H1115! 4 Israel ^H3478, your prophets ^H5030 have been ^H1961 like jackals ^H7776 among ruins ^H2723. 5 You have not gone ^H5927 up ^H5927 into the breaches ^H6556, nor ^H3808 did you build ^H1443 up ^H1443 a stone ^H1447 wall ^H1447 around ^H5921 the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 to stand ^H5975 in the battle ^H4421 on the day ^H3117 of the LORD ^H3068. 6 They see ^H2372 deceit ^H7723 and lying ^H3577 divination ^H7081, those who are saying ^H559, ‘The LORD ^H3068 declares ^H5002,’ when the LORD ^H3068 has not sent ^H7971 them; yet they wait ^H3176 for the fulfillment ^H6965 of their word ^H1697! 7 Did you not see ^H2372 a false ^H7723 vision ^H4236 and tell ^H559 a lying ^H3577 divination ^H4738 when you said ^H559, ‘The LORD ^H3068 declares ^H5002,’ but it is not I who have spoken ^H1696?”’”

8 Therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “Because ^H3282 you have spoken ^H1696 deceit ^H7723 and have seen ^H2372 a lie ^H3577, therefore ^H3651 behold ^H2009, I am against ^H413 you,” declares ^H5002 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068. 9 “So My hand ^H3027 will be against ^H413 the prophets ^H5030 who see ^H2372 false ^H7723 visions ^H2372 and utter ^H7080 lying ^H3577 divinations ^H7080. They will [fn]have ^H1961 no ^H3808 place ^H1961 in the council ^H5475 of My people ^H5971, nor ^H3808 will they be written ^H3789 down ^H3789 in the register ^H3791 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478, nor ^H3808 will they enter ^H935 the land ^H127 of Israel ^H3478, [fn]so that you may know ^H3045 that I am the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068. 10 It is definitely ^H3282 because ^H3282 they have misled ^H2937 My people ^H5971 by saying ^H559, ‘Peace ^H7965!’ when there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 peace ^H7965. And when anyone ^H1931 builds ^H1129 a wall ^H2434, behold ^H2009, they plaster ^H2902 it over ^H2902 with whitewash ^H8602; 11 so tell ^H559 those who plaster ^H2902 it over ^H2902 with whitewash ^H8602, that it will fall ^H5307. A flooding ^H7857 rain ^H1653 will come ^H1961, and you, hailstones ^H1259 H68, will fall ^H5307, and a violent ^H5591 wind ^H7307 will break ^H1234 out ^H1234. 12 Behold ^H2009, when the wall ^H7023 has fallen ^H5307, will you not be asked ^H559, ‘Where ^H346 is the plaster ^H2915 with which ^H834 you plastered ^H2902 it?’” 13 Therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “I will make a violent ^H5591 wind ^H7307 break ^H1234 out ^H1234 in My wrath ^H2534. There will also be in My anger ^H639 a flooding ^H7857 rain ^H1653 and hailstones ^H417 H68 to consume ^H3615 it in wrath ^H2534. 14 So I will tear ^H2040 down ^H2040 the wall ^H7023 which ^H834 you plastered ^H2902 over ^H2902 with whitewash ^H8602 and hurl ^H5060 it down ^H5060 to the ground ^H776, so that its foundation ^H3247 is exposed ^H1540; and when it falls ^H5307, you will perish ^H3615 in its midst ^H8432. And you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068. 15 So I will expend ^H3615 My wrath ^H2534 on the wall ^H7023 and on those who have plastered ^H2902 it over ^H2902 with whitewash ^H8602; and I will say ^H559 to you, ‘The wall ^H7023 [fn]is ^H369 gone ^H369 and those who plastered ^H2902 it are ^H369 gone ^H369, 16 along with the prophets ^H5030 of Israel ^H3478 who prophesy ^H5012 to Jerusalem ^H3389, and who see ^H7200 a vision ^H2377 of peace ^H7965 for her when there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 peace ^H7965,’ declares ^H5002 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068.

17 “Now you, son ^H1121 of man ^H120, set ^H7760 your face ^H6440 against ^H413 the daughters ^H1323 of your people ^H5971 who are talking ^H5012 like ^H5012 prophets ^H5012 from their own [fn]imagination ^H3820. Prophesy ^H5012 against ^H5921 them 18 and say ^H559, ‘This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “Woe ^H1945 to the women who sew ^H8609 magic bands ^H3704 on [fn]all ^H3605 wrists ^H3027 H679 and make ^H6213 veils ^H4555 for the heads ^H7218 of persons of every ^H3605 stature ^H6967 to capture ^H6679 souls ^H5315! Will you capture ^H6679 the souls ^H5315 of My people ^H5971, but keep ^H2421 the souls ^H5315 of others alive ^H2421 for yourselves? 19 For handfuls ^H8168 of barley ^H8184 and pieces ^H6604 of bread ^H3899, you have profaned ^H2490 Me to My people ^H5971, to put ^H4191 to ^H4191 death ^H4191 [fn]some ^H5315 who ^H834 should not die ^H4191, and to keep ^H2421 [fn]others ^H5315 alive ^H2421 who ^H834 should not live ^H2421, by your lying ^H3576 to My people ^H5971 who listen ^H8085 to lies ^H3577.”’”

20 Therefore ^H3651, this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: “Behold ^H2009, I am against ^H413 your magic bands ^H3704 by which ^H834 you capture ^H6679 souls ^H5315 there ^H8033 as [fn]birds ^H6524, and I will tear ^H7167 them from your arms ^H2220; and I will let ^H7971 [fn]them go ^H7971, those souls ^H5315 whom ^H834 you capture ^H6679 as [fn]birds ^H6524. 21 I will also tear ^H7167 off your veils ^H4555 and save ^H5337 My people ^H5971 from your hands ^H3027, and they will no ^H3808 longer ^H5750 be in your hands ^H3027 as prey ^H4686; and you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068. 22 Because ^H3282 you disheartened ^H3512 H3820 the righteous ^H6662 with falsehood ^H8267 when I did not cause ^H3510 him pain ^H3510, but you have [fn]encouraged ^H2388 H3027 the wicked ^H7563 not to turn ^H7725 from his wicked ^H7451 way ^H1870 to keep ^H2421 him alive ^H2421, 23 therefore ^H3651 you women will no ^H3808 longer ^H5750 see ^H2372 deceitful ^H7723 visions ^H2372 or practice ^H7080 divination ^H7081, and I will save ^H5337 My people ^H5971 from your hands ^H3027. So you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068.”
