Siege of Jerusalem Predicted

1 “Now you, son ^H1121 of man ^H120, get ^H3947 yourself a brick ^H3843, place ^H5414 it before ^H6440 you, and inscribe ^H2710 a city ^H5892 on it—Jerusalem ^H3389.

2 Then lay ^H5414 siege ^H4692 against ^H5921 it, build ^H1129 a siege ^H1785 wall ^H1785, pile ^H8210 up ^H8210 an assault ^H5550 ramp ^H5550, set ^H5414 up ^H5414 camps ^H4264, and place ^H7760 battering ^H3733 rams ^H3733 against ^H5921 it all ^H5439 around ^H5439. 3 Then get ^H3947 yourself an iron ^H1270 plate ^H4227 and set ^H5414 it up ^H5414 as an iron ^H1270 wall ^H7023 between ^H996 yourself and the city ^H5892, and direct ^H3559 your face ^H6440 toward ^H413 it so that it is under siege ^H4692, and besiege ^H6696 H5921 it. This ^H1931 will be a sign ^H226 to the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478.

4 “Then you are to lie ^H7901 down ^H7901 on your left ^H8042 side ^H6654 and put ^H7760 the wrongdoing ^H5771 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478 on it; you shall bear ^H5375 their wrongdoing ^H5771 for the number ^H4557 of days ^H3117 that you lie ^H7901 on it. 5 For I have assigned ^H5414 you a number ^H4557 of days ^H3117 corresponding to the years ^H8141 of their wrongdoing ^H5771, 390 ^{H7969 H3967 H8673} days ^H3117; so you shall bear ^H5375 the wrongdoing ^H5771 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478. 6 When you have completed ^H3615 these ^H428 days, you shall lie ^H7901 down ^H7901 a second ^H8145 time ^H8145, but on your right ^H3233 side ^H6654, and bear ^H5375 the wrongdoing ^H5771 of the house ^H1004 of Judah ^H3063; I have assigned ^H5414 it to you for forty ^H705 days ^H3117, a day ^H3117 for each year ^H8141. 7 Then you shall direct ^H3559 your face ^H6440 toward ^H413 the siege ^H4692 of Jerusalem ^H3389 with your arm ^H2220 bared ^H2834, and prophesy ^H5012 against ^H5921 it. 8 Now behold ^H2009, I will put ^H5414 ropes ^H5688 [fn]around you so that you cannot ^H3808 turn ^H2015 from your one side ^H6654 to your other ^H6654 until ^H5704 you have completed ^H3615 the days ^H3117 of your siege ^H4692.

Defiled Bread

9 “But as for you, take ^H3947 wheat ^H2406, barley ^H8184, beans ^H6321, lentils ^H5742, millet ^H1764, and spelt ^H3698, and put ^H5414 them in one ^H259 vessel ^H3627 and make ^H6213 them into bread ^H3899 for yourself; you shall eat ^H398 it according to the number ^H4557 of the days ^H3117 that you lie ^H7901 on your side ^H6654, 390 ^{H7969 H3967 H8673} days ^H3117.

10 Your food ^H3978 which ^H834 you eat ^H398 shall be twenty ^H6242 shekels ^H8255 a day ^H3117 by weight ^H4946; you shall eat ^H398 it from time ^H6256 to time ^H6256. 11 The water ^H4325 you drink ^H8354 shall be a [fn]sixth ^H8345 of a hin ^H1969 by measure ^H4884; you shall drink ^H8354 it from time ^H6256 to time ^H6256. 12 You shall eat ^H398 it as a barley ^H8184 cake ^H5692, having baked ^H5746 it in their sight ^H5869 over human ^H120 dung ^H1561 H6627.” 13 Then the LORD ^H3068 said ^H559, “In this ^H3602 way ^H3602 the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 will eat ^H398 their bread ^H3899 unclean ^H2931 among the nations ^H1471 where ^H834 H8033 I will scatter ^H5080 them.” 14 But I said ^H559, “Oh ^H162, Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068! Behold ^H2009, [fn]I have never ^H3808 been ^H2930 defiled ^H2930; for from my youth ^H5271 until ^H5704 now ^H6258 I have never ^H3808 eaten ^H398 what ^H5038 died ^H5038 of itself or was torn ^H2966 by ^H2966 animals ^H2966, nor ^H3808 has any unclean ^H6292 meat ^H1320 ever entered ^H935 my mouth ^H6310!” 15 Then He said ^H559 to me, “See ^H7200, I will give ^H5414 you cow’s ^H1241 dung ^H6832 in ^H8478 place ^H8478 of ^H8478 human ^H120 dung ^H1561, so that you may prepare ^H6213 your bread ^H3899 over ^H5921 it.” 16 Moreover, He said ^H559 to me, “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, behold ^H2009, I am going to break ^H7665 the staff ^H4294 of bread ^H3899 in Jerusalem ^H3389, and they will eat ^H398 bread ^H3899 by weight ^H4948 and with anxiety ^H1674, and drink ^H8354 water ^H4325 by measure ^H4884 and in horror ^H8078, 17 because ^H4616 bread ^H3899 and water ^H4325 will be ^H2637 scarce ^H2637; and they will tremble ^H8074 with one ^H376 another ^H251 and waste ^H4743 away ^H4743 in their guilt ^H5771.
