Idolatrous Worship Denounced

1 Now the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559,

2 “Son ^H1121 of man ^H120, set ^H7760 your face ^H6440 toward ^H413 the mountains ^H2022 of Israel ^H3478, and prophesy ^H5012 against ^H413 them 3 and say ^H559, ‘Mountains ^H2022 of Israel ^H3478, listen ^H8085 to the word ^H1697 of the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068! This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 says ^H559 to the mountains ^H2022, the hills ^H1389, the ravines ^H650, and the valleys ^H1516: “Behold ^H2009, I Myself ^H589 am going to bring ^H935 a sword ^H2719 against ^H5921 you, and I will destroy ^H6 your high ^H1116 places ^H1116. 4 So your altars ^H4196 will become ^H8074 deserted ^H8074 and your incense ^H2553 altars ^H2553 will be smashed ^H7665; and I will make your slain ^H2491 fall ^H5307 in front ^H6440 of your idols ^H1544. 5 I will also lay ^H5414 the dead ^H6297 bodies ^H6297 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 in front ^H6440 of their idols ^H1544; and I will scatter ^H2219 your bones ^H6106 around ^H5439 your altars ^H4196. 6 [fn]Everywhere ^H3605 you live ^H4186, cities ^H5892 will be in ruins ^H2717 and the high ^H1116 places ^H1116 will be ^H8074 deserted ^H8074, so ^H4616 that ^H4616 your altars ^H4196 will be ^H2717 in ^H2717 ruins ^H2717 and [fn]deserted ^H8074, your idols ^H1544 will be broken ^H7665 and brought ^H7673 to ^H7673 an ^H7673 end ^H7673, your incense ^H2553 altars ^H2553 will be cut ^H1438 down ^H1438, and your works ^H4639 wiped ^H4229 out ^H4229. 7 The slain ^H2491 will fall ^H5307 among ^H8432 you, and you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068.

8 “However, I will leave ^H3498 a ^H3498 remnant ^H3498, in that you will have ^H1961 those who ^H6412 escaped ^H6412 the sword ^H2719 among the nations ^H1471 when you are scattered ^H2219 among the countries ^H776. 9 Then those of you who ^H6412 escape ^H6412 will remember ^H2142 Me among the nations ^H1471 to which ^H834 they will be taken ^H7617 captive ^H7617, how ^H834 I have [fn]been hurt ^H7665 by their adulterous ^H2181 hearts ^H3820 which ^H834 turned ^H5493 away ^H5493 from Me, and by their eyes ^H5869 which committed ^H2181 infidelity ^H2181 with ^H310 their idols ^H1544; and they will loathe ^H6962 themselves in their own sight ^H6440 for the evils ^H7451 which ^H834 they have committed ^H6213, for all ^H3605 their abominations ^H8441. 10 Then they will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068; I have not said ^H1696 in vain ^H2600 that I would inflict ^H6213 this ^H2088 disaster ^H7451 on them.”’

11 “This ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 says ^H559: ‘Clap ^H5221 your hands ^H3709, stamp ^H7554 your foot ^H7272 and say ^H559, “Woe ^H253, because ^H413 of all ^H3605 the evil ^H7451 abominations ^H8441 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478, which ^H834 will fall ^H5307 by the sword ^H2719, famine ^H7458, and plague ^H1698! 12 Anyone who is far ^H7350 away ^H7350 will die ^H4191 by the plague ^H1698, anyone who ^H7138 is near ^H7138 will fall ^H5307 by the sword ^H2719, and anyone who remains ^H7604 and is spared ^H5341 from these will die ^H4191 by the famine ^H7458. So I will expend ^H3615 My wrath ^H2534 on them. 13 Then you will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068, when their dead ^H2491 are among ^H8432 their idols ^H1544 around ^H5439 their altars ^H4196, on every ^H3605 high ^H7311 hill ^H1389, on all ^H3605 the tops ^H7218 of the mountains ^H2022, under ^H8478 every ^H3605 leafy ^H7488 tree ^H6086 and under ^H8478 every ^H3605 massive ^H424 oak ^H424 with thick ^H5687 branches ^H5687—the places ^H4725 where ^H834 H8033 they offered ^H5414 a soothing ^H5207 aroma ^H7381 to all ^H3605 their idols ^H1544. 14 So through all ^H3605 their dwelling ^H4186 places ^H4186 I will stretch ^H5186 out ^H5186 My hand ^H3027 against ^H5921 them and make ^H5414 the land ^H776 more ^H4480 desolate ^H8077 and waste ^H4923 than ^H4480 the wilderness ^H4057 toward Diblah ^H1689; so they will know ^H3045 that I am the LORD ^H3068.”’”
