Pharaoh’s Dream

1 Now it happened ^H1961 at the end ^H7093 of two full ^H3117 years ^H8141 that Pharaoh ^H6547 had ^H2492 a ^H2492 dream ^H2492, and behold ^H2009, he was standing ^H5975 by the Nile ^H2975.

2 And behold ^H2009, from the Nile ^H2975 seven ^H7651 cows ^H6510 came ^H5927 up ^H5927, fine-looking ^H3303 H4758 and [fn]fat ^H1277 H1320; and they grazed ^H7462 in the marsh ^H260 grass ^H260. 3 Then behold ^H2009, seven ^H7651 other ^H312 cows ^H6510 came ^H5927 up ^H5927 after ^H310 them from the Nile ^H2975, ugly ^H7451 H4758 and [fn]thin ^H1851 H1320, and they stood ^H5975 by the other cows ^H6510 on the bank ^H8193 of the Nile ^H2975. 4 Then the ugly ^H7451 H4758 and [fn]thin ^H1851 H1320 cows ^H6510 ate ^H398 the seven ^H7651 fine-looking ^H3303 H4758 and fat ^H1277 cows ^H6510. 9 Then the chief ^H8269 cupbearer ^H4945 spoke ^H1696 to Pharaoh ^H6547, saying ^H559, “I would make mention ^H2142 today ^H3117 of my own [fn]offenses ^H2399. 10 Pharaoh ^H6547 was ^H7107 furious ^H7107 with his servants ^H5650, and he put ^H5414 me in confinement ^H4929 in the house ^H1004 of the captain ^H8269 of the bodyguard ^H2876, both me and the chief ^H8269 baker ^H644. 11 Then we had ^H2492 a dream ^H2472 one ^H259 night ^H3915, [fn]he and I; each ^H376 of us dreamed ^H2492 according to the interpretation ^H6623 of his own dream ^H2472. 12 Now a Hebrew ^H5680 youth ^H5288 was there ^H8033 with us, a servant ^H5650 of the captain ^H8269 of the bodyguard ^H2876, and we told ^H5608 him the dreams, and he interpreted ^H6622 our dreams ^H2472 for us. Joseph Interprets

14 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 sent ^H7971 word and called ^H7121 for Joseph ^H3130, and they hurriedly ^H7323 brought ^H7323 him out of the dungeon ^H953; and when he had shaved ^H1548 himself and changed ^H2498 his clothes ^H8071, he came ^H935 to Pharaoh ^H6547.

25 And Joseph ^H3130 said ^H559 to Pharaoh ^H6547, “Pharaoh’s ^H6547 [fn]dreams ^H2472 are one ^H259 and the same; God ^H430 has told ^H5046 to Pharaoh ^H6547 what ^H853 H834 He is about to do ^H6213. 26 The seven ^H7651 good ^H2896 cows ^H6510 are seven ^H7651 years ^H8141; and the seven ^H7651 good ^H2896 ears ^H7641 are seven ^H7651 years ^H8141; the [fn]dreams ^H2472 are one ^H259 and the same. 27 The seven ^H7651 thin ^H7534 and ugly ^H7451 cows ^H6510 that came ^H5927 up ^H5927 after ^H310 them are seven ^H7651 years ^H8141, and the seven ^H7651 thin ^H7534 ears ^H7641 scorched ^H7710 by the east ^H6921 wind ^H6921 will be seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of famine ^H7458. 28 [fn]It is as I have spoken ^H1696 to Pharaoh ^H6547: God ^H430 has shown ^H7200 Pharaoh ^H6547 what ^H834 He is about to do ^H6213. 29 Behold ^H2009, seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of great ^H1419 abundance ^H7647 are coming ^H935 in all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714; 30 and after ^H310 them seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of famine ^H7458 will [fn]come ^H6965, and all ^H3605 the abundance ^H7647 will be forgotten ^H7911 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714, and the famine ^H7458 will [fn]ravage ^H3615 the land ^H776. 31 So the abundance ^H7647 will be ^H3045 unknown ^H3045 H3808 in the land ^H776 because ^H4480 H6440 of that subsequent ^H310 famine ^H7458; for it will be very ^H3966 severe ^H3515. 32 Now as for the repeating ^H8138 of the dream ^H2472 to Pharaoh ^H6547 twice ^H6471, it means that the matter ^H1697 is confirmed ^H3559 by God ^H430, and God ^H430 will quickly ^H4116 bring ^H6213 it about ^H6213. 33 So now ^H6258 let Pharaoh ^H6547 look ^H7200 for a man ^H376 discerning ^H995 and wise ^H2450, and appoint ^H7896 him over ^H5921 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 34 Let Pharaoh ^H6547 take ^H6213 action ^H6213 to appoint ^H6485 overseers ^H6496 [fn]in ^H5921 charge ^H5921 of ^H5921 the land ^H776, and let him take ^H2567 a ^H2567 fifth ^H2567 of the produce of the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 as a tax in the seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of abundance ^H7647. 35 Then have them collect ^H6908 all ^H3605 the food ^H3978 of these ^H428 good ^H2896 years ^H8141 that are coming ^H935, and store ^H6651 up ^H6651 the grain ^H1250 for food ^H400 in the cities ^H5892 under ^H8478 Pharaoh’s ^H6547 authority ^H3027, and have them guard ^H8104 it. 36 Let the food ^H400 be used as a reserve ^H6487 for the land ^H776 for the seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of famine ^H7458 which ^H834 will occur ^H1961 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714, so that the land ^H776 will not perish ^H3772 during the famine ^H7458.”

37 Now the [fn]proposal ^H1697 seemed ^H3190 good ^H3190 [fn]to Pharaoh ^H6547 and [fn]to all ^H3605 his servants ^H5650.

Joseph Is Made a Ruler of Egypt

38 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 said ^H559 to his servants ^H5650, “Can we find ^H4672 a man ^H376 like this ^H2088, in whom ^H834 there is a divine ^H430 spirit ^H7307?” 39 So Pharaoh ^H6547 said ^H559 to Joseph ^H3130, “Since ^H310 God ^H430 has informed ^H3045 you of all ^H3605 this ^H2088, there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 as discerning ^H995 and wise ^H2450 as you are. 40 You shall be [fn]in ^H5921 charge ^H5921 of ^H5921 my house ^H1004, and all ^H3605 my people ^H5971 shall [fn]be ^H5401 obedient ^{H5401 H5921 H6310} to you; only ^H7534 regarding the throne ^H3678 will I be greater ^H1431 than ^H4480 you.” 41 Pharaoh ^H6547 also said ^H559 to Joseph ^H3130, “See ^H7200, I have placed ^H5414 you over ^H5921 all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.” 42 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 took ^H5493 off ^H5493 his signet ^H2885 ring ^H2885 from his hand ^H3027 and put ^H5414 it on Joseph’s ^H3130 hand ^H3027, and clothed ^H3847 him in garments ^H899 of fine ^H8336 linen ^H8336, and put ^H7760 the gold ^H2091 necklace ^H7242 around ^H5921 his neck ^H6677. 43 And he had him ride ^H7392 in [fn]his second ^H4932 chariot ^H4818; and they proclaimed ^H7121 ahead ^H6440 of him, “[fn]Bow ^H86 the ^H86 knee ^H86!” And he placed ^H5414 him over ^H5921 all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 44 Moreover, Pharaoh ^H6547 said ^H559 to Joseph ^H3130, “Though I am Pharaoh ^H6547, yet without ^H1107 [fn]your permission no ^H3808 one ^H376 shall raise ^H7311 his hand ^H3027 or foot ^H7272 in all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.” 45 Then Pharaoh ^H6547 named ^H7121 H8034 Joseph ^H3130 [fn]Zaphenath-paneah ^H6847; and he gave ^H5414 him Asenath ^H621, the daughter ^H1323 of Potiphera ^H6319 priest ^H3548 of [fn]On ^H204, to be his wife ^H802. And Joseph ^H3130 went ^H3318 out ^H3318 over ^H5921 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714.

46 Now Joseph ^H3130 was thirty ^H7970 years ^H8141 old ^H1121 when he [fn]stood ^H5975 in the presence ^H6440 of Pharaoh ^H6547, king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714. And Joseph ^H3130 went ^H3318 out ^H3318 from the presence ^H6440 of Pharaoh ^H6547 and went ^H5674 through all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 47 During the seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of plenty ^H7647 the land ^H776 produced ^H6213 [fn]abundantly ^H7062. 48 So he collected ^H6908 all ^H3605 the food ^H400 of these seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 which ^H834 occurred ^H1961 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 and put ^H5414 the food ^H400 in the cities ^H5892; he put ^H5414 in every city ^H5892 the food ^H400 from its own surrounding ^H5439 fields ^H7704. 49 Joseph ^H3130 stored ^H6651 up ^H6651 grain ^H1250 [fn]in great ^H3966 abundance ^H3966 like the sand ^H2344 of the sea ^H3220, until ^H5704 H3588 he stopped ^H2308 [fn]measuring ^H5608 it, for it was [fn]beyond ^H369 measure ^H4557.

The Sons of Joseph

50 Now before ^H2962 the year ^H8141 of famine ^H7458 came ^H935, two ^H8147 sons ^H1121 were born ^H3205 to Joseph ^H3130, whom ^H834 Asenath ^H621, the daughter ^H1323 of Potiphera ^H6319, priest ^H3548 of [fn]On ^H204, bore ^H3205 to him.

51 Joseph ^H3130 named ^H7121 H8034 the firstborn ^H1060 [fn]Manasseh ^H4519; “For,” he said, “God ^H430 has made me forget ^H5382 all ^H3605 my trouble ^H5999 and all ^H3605 of my father’s ^H1 household ^H1004.” 52 And he named ^H7121 H8034 the second ^H8145 [fn]Ephraim ^H669; “For,” he said, “God ^H430 has made ^H6509 me fruitful ^H6509 in the land ^H776 of my affliction ^H6040.”

53 When the seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of plenty ^H7647 which ^H834 had taken ^H1961 place ^H1961 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 came ^H3615 to ^H3615 an ^H3615 end ^H3615, 54 and the seven ^H7651 years ^H8141 of famine ^H7458 began ^H2490 to come ^H935, just ^H834 as ^H834 Joseph ^H3130 had said ^H559, then there was famine ^H7458 in all ^H3605 the lands ^H776; but in all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 there was bread ^H3899. 55 So when all ^H3605 the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 suffered ^H7456 famine ^H7456, the people ^H5971 cried ^H6817 out ^H6817 to Pharaoh ^H6547 for bread ^H3899; and Pharaoh ^H6547 said ^H559 to all ^H3605 the Egyptians ^H4714, “Go ^H1980 to Joseph ^H3130; whatever ^H834 he says ^H559 to you, you shall do ^H6213.” 56 When the famine ^H7458 was spread over ^H5921 the entire ^H3605 face ^H6440 of the earth ^H776, then Joseph ^H3130 opened ^H6605 all ^H3605 [fn]the storehouses ^H834 and sold ^H7666 grain ^H7666 to the Egyptians ^H4714; and the famine ^H7458 was severe ^H2388 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714. 57 Then the people of all ^H3605 the earth ^H776 came ^H935 to Egypt ^H4714 to buy ^H7666 grain ^H7666 from Joseph ^H3130, because ^H3588 the famine ^H7458 was severe ^H2388 in all ^H3605 the earth ^H776.
