1 On the twenty-first ^H6242 H259 of the seventh ^H7637 month ^H2320, the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 by Haggai ^H2292 the prophet ^H5030, saying ^H559,

2 “Speak ^H559 now ^H4994 to Zerubbabel ^H2216 the son ^H1121 of Shealtiel ^H7597, governor ^H6346 of Judah ^H3063, and to Joshua ^H3091 the son ^H1121 of Jehozadak ^H3087, the high ^H1419 priest ^H3548, and to the remnant ^H7611 of the people ^H5971, saying ^H559, 3 ‘Who ^H4310 is left ^H7604 among you who ^H834 saw ^H7200 this ^H2088 [fn]temple ^H1004 in its former ^H7223 glory ^H3519? And how ^H4100 do you see ^H7200 it now ^H6258? [fn]Does it not seem ^H5869 to you like nothing ^H369 [fn]in ^H3644 comparison ^H3644? 4 But now ^H6258 [fn]take ^H2388 courage ^H2388, Zerubbabel ^H2216,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘take ^H2388 courage ^H2388 also, Joshua ^H3091 son ^H1121 of Jehozadak ^H3087, the high ^H1419 priest ^H3548, and all ^H3605 you people ^H5971 of the land ^H776 take ^H2388 courage ^H2388,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘and work ^H6213; for I am with you,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635. 5 ‘As for the [fn]promise ^H1697 which ^H834 I [fn]made ^H3772 you when you came ^H3318 out ^H3318 of Egypt ^H4714, [fn]My Spirit ^H7307 remains ^H5975 in your midst ^H8432; do not fear ^H3372!’ 6 For this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559: ‘Once ^H259 more ^H5750 [fn]in a little ^H4592 while ^H4592, I am going to shake ^H7493 the heavens ^H8064 and the earth ^H776, the sea ^H3220 also and the dry ^H2724 land ^H2724. 7 I will shake ^H7493 all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471; and [fn]they will come ^H935 with the wealth ^H2532 of all ^H3605 nations ^H1471, and I will fill ^H4390 this ^H2088 house ^H1004 with glory ^H3519,’ says ^H559 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635. 8 ‘The silver ^H3701 is Mine and the gold ^H2091 is Mine,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635. 9 ‘The latter ^H314 glory ^H3519 of this ^H2088 house ^H1004 will be greater ^H1419 than ^H4480 the former ^H7223,’ says ^H559 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, ‘and in this ^H2088 place ^H4725 I will give ^H5414 peace ^H7965,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635.”

10 On the twenty-fourth ^H6242 H702 of the ninth ^H8671 month, in the second ^H8147 year ^H8141 of Darius ^H1867, the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to Haggai ^H2292 the prophet ^H5030, saying ^H559, 11 “The LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635 says ^H559 this ^H3541: ‘Now ^H4994 ask ^H7592 the priests ^H3548 for a [fn]ruling ^H8451: 12 If ^H2005 someone ^H376 carries ^H5375 holy ^H6944 meat ^H1320 in the [fn]fold ^H3671 of his garment ^H899, and touches ^H5060 bread ^H3899 with [fn]this fold ^H3671, or touches cooked ^H5138 food ^H5138, wine ^H3196, oil ^H8081, or any ^H3605 other food ^H3978, will it become ^H6942 holy ^H6942?’” And the priests ^H3548 answered ^H6030, “No ^H3808.” 13 Then Haggai ^H2292 said ^H559, “If ^H518 one who is unclean ^H2931 from a [fn]corpse ^H5315 touches ^H5060 any ^H3605 of these ^H428 things, will the latter become ^H2930 unclean ^H2930?” And the priests ^H3548 answered ^H6030, “It will become ^H2930 unclean ^H2930.” 14 Then Haggai ^H2292 responded ^H6030 and said ^H559, “‘So ^H3651 is this ^H2088 people ^H5971. And so ^H3651 is this ^H2088 nation ^H1471 before ^H6440 Me,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘and so ^H3651 is every ^H3605 work ^H4639 of their hands ^H3027; and what ^H834 they offer ^H7126 there ^H8033 is unclean ^H2931. 15 But now ^H6258, do [fn]consider ^H7760 H3824 from this ^H2088 day ^H3117 [fn]onward ^H4605: before ^H4480 H2962 one stone ^H68 was placed ^H7760 on another ^H68 in the temple ^H1964 of the LORD ^H3068, 16 [fn]from that time ^H1961 when one came ^H935 to a grain ^H6194 heap ^H6194 of twenty ^H6242 measures, there would be only ten ^H6235; and when one came ^H935 to the wine ^H3342 vat ^H3342 to draw ^H2834 fifty ^H2572 [fn]measures ^H6333, there would be only twenty ^H6242. 17 I struck ^H5221 you and every ^H3605 work ^H4639 of your hands ^H3027 with scorching ^H7711 wind ^H7711, mildew ^H3420, and hail ^H1259; [fn]yet you did not come back to Me,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068. 18 ‘Do [fn]consider ^H7760 H3824 from this ^H2088 day ^H3117 [fn]onward ^H4605, from the twenty-fourth ^H6242 H702 day ^H3117 of the ninth ^H8671 month; from the day ^H3117 when ^H834 the temple ^H1964 of the LORD ^H3068 was founded ^H3245, [fn]consider ^H7760 H3824: 19 Is the seed ^H2233 still ^H5750 in the barn ^H4035? Even including ^H5704 the vine ^H1612, the fig ^H8384 tree ^H8384, the pomegranate ^H7416, and the olive ^H2132 tree ^H6086, it has not produced ^H5375 fruit. Yet from this ^H2088 day ^H3117 on I will bless ^H1288 you.’”

20 Then the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 a second ^H8145 time ^H8145 to Haggai ^H2292 on the twenty-fourth ^H6242 H702 day of the month ^H2320, saying ^H559, 21 “Speak ^H559 to Zerubbabel ^H2216 governor ^H6346 of Judah ^H3063, saying ^H559, ‘I am going to shake ^H7493 the heavens ^H8064 and the earth ^H776. 22 And I will overthrow ^H2015 the thrones ^H3678 of kingdoms ^H4467 and destroy ^H8045 the power ^H2392 of the kingdoms ^H4467 of the [fn]nations ^H1471; and I will overthrow ^H2015 the chariots ^H4818 and their riders ^H7392, and the horses ^H5483 and their riders ^H7392 will go ^H3381 down ^H3381, every ^H376 one ^H376 by the sword ^H2719 of another ^H251.’ 23 ‘On that day ^H3117,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635, ‘I will take ^H3947 you, Zerubbabel ^H2216, son ^H1121 of Shealtiel ^H7597, My servant ^H5650,’ declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, ‘and I will make ^H7760 you like a [fn]signet ^H2368 ring ^H2368, for I have chosen ^H977 you,’” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635.
