Israel Encouraged

1 “Listen ^H2790 to Me in ^H2790 silence ^H2790, you coastlands ^H339,

And let the peoples ^H3816 gain ^H2498 new ^H2498 strength ^H3581;

Let them come ^H5066 forward ^H5066, then ^H227 let them speak ^H1696;

Let’s come ^H7126 together ^H3162 for judgment ^H4941.

2 “Who ^H4310 has stirred ^H5782 one from the east ^H4217

Whom He calls ^H7121 in righteousness ^H6664 to His [fn]feet ^H7272?

He turns ^H5414 nations ^H1471 over ^H5414 H6440 to him

And subdues ^H7287 kings ^H4428.

He makes ^H5414 them like dust ^H6083 with his sword ^H2719,

Like the wind-driven chaff ^H7179 with his bow ^H7198.

3 “He pursues ^H7291 them, passing ^H5674 on ^H5674 in safety ^H7965,

By a way ^H734 he had not been [fn]traversing ^H935 with his feet ^H7272.

4 “Who ^H4310 has performed ^H6466 and accomplished ^H6213 it,

Summoning ^H7121 the generations ^H1755 from the beginning ^H7218?

‘I, the LORD ^H3068, am the first ^H7223, and with the last ^H314. I am He.’”

5 The coastlands ^H339 have seen ^H7200 and are ^H3372 afraid ^H3372;

The ends ^H7098 of the earth ^H776 tremble ^H2729;

They have approached ^H7126 and have come ^H857.

6 Each ^H376 one ^H376 helps ^H5826 his neighbor ^H7453

And says ^H559 to his brother ^H251, “Be strong ^H2388!”

7 So the craftsman ^H2796 encourages ^H2388 the smelter ^H6884,

And he who smooths ^H2505 metal with the hammer ^H6360 encourages him who beats ^H1986 the anvil ^H6471,

Saying ^H559 of the soldering ^H1694, “It is good ^H2896”;

And he fastens ^H2388 it with nails ^H4548,

So that it will not totter ^H4131.

8 “But you, Israel ^H3478, My servant ^H5650,

Jacob ^H3290 whom ^H834 I have chosen ^H977,

Descendant ^H2233 of Abraham ^H85 My friend ^H157,

9 You whom ^H834 I have [fn]taken ^H2388 from the ends ^H7098 of the earth ^H776

And called ^H7121 from its remotest ^H678 parts ^H678,

And said ^H559 to you, ‘You are My servant ^H5650,

I have chosen ^H977 you and have not rejected ^H3988 you.

10 ‘Do not fear ^H3372, for I am with you;

Do not be ^H8159 afraid ^H8159, for I am your God ^H430.

I will strengthen ^H553 you, I will also ^H637 help ^H5826 you,

I will also ^H637 uphold ^H8551 you with My righteous ^H6664 right ^H3225 hand ^H3225.’

11 “Behold ^H2005, all ^H3605 those who are angered ^H2734 at you will be shamed ^H954 and dishonored ^H3637;

Those ^H376 who ^H376 contend ^H7379 with you will be as nothing ^H369 and will perish ^H6.

12 “You will seek ^H1245 those ^H376 who ^H376 quarrel ^H4695 with you, but will not find ^H4672 them,

Those ^H376 who ^H376 war ^H4421 with you will be as nothing ^H369 and non-existent ^H657.

13 “For I am the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 who takes ^H2388 hold ^H2388 of your right ^H3225 hand ^H3225,

Who says ^H559 to you, ‘Do not fear ^H3372, I will help ^H5826 you.’

14 “Do not fear ^H3372, you worm ^H8439 Jacob ^H3290, you people ^H4962 of Israel ^H3478;

I will help ^H5826 you,” declares ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068, “and your [fn]Redeemer ^H1350 is the Holy ^H6918 One ^H6918 of Israel ^H3478.

15 “Behold ^H2009, I turned ^H7760 you into a new ^H2319, sharp ^H2742 threshing ^H4173 sledge ^H4173 with double edges ^H6310;

You will thresh ^H1758 the mountains ^H2022 and pulverize ^H1854 them,

And make ^H7760 the hills ^H1389 like chaff ^H4671.

16 “You will winnow ^H2219 them, and the wind ^H7307 will carry ^H5375 them away,

And the storm ^H5591 will scatter ^H6327 them;

But you will rejoice ^H1523 in the LORD ^H3068,

You will boast ^H1984 in the Holy ^H6918 One ^H6918 of Israel ^H3478.

17 “The poor ^H6041 and needy ^H34 are seeking ^H1245 water ^H4325, but there ^H369 is ^H369 none ^H369,

And their tongues ^H3956 are parched ^H5405 with thirst ^H6772.

I, the LORD ^H3068, will answer ^H6030 them Myself;

As the God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 I will not abandon ^H5800 them.

18 “I will open ^H6605 rivers ^H5104 on the bare ^H8205 heights ^H8205,

And springs ^H4599 in the midst ^H8432 of the valleys ^H1237;

I will make ^H7760 the wilderness ^H4057 a pool ^H98 of water ^H4325,

And the dry ^H6723 land ^H776 fountains ^H4161 of water ^H4325.

19 “I will put ^H5414 the cedar ^H730 in the wilderness ^H4057,

The acacia ^H7848, the myrtle ^H1918, and the olive ^H8081 tree ^H8410;

I will place ^H7760 the juniper ^H1265 in the desert ^H6160,

Together ^H3162 with the elm ^H8410 tree ^H8410 and the cypress ^H8391,

20 So ^H4616 that ^H4616 they may see ^H7200 and recognize ^H3045,

And consider ^H7760 and gain ^H7919 insight ^H7919 as ^H3162 well ^H3162,

That the hand ^H3027 of the LORD ^H3068 has done ^H6213 this ^H2088,

And the Holy ^H6918 One ^H6918 of Israel ^H3478 has created ^H1254 it.

21 “[fn]Present ^H7126 your case ^H7379,” the LORD ^H3068 says ^H559.

“Bring ^H5066 forward ^H5066 your evidence ^H6110,”

The King ^H4428 of Jacob ^H3290 says ^H559.

22 Let them bring ^H5066 them forward ^H5066 and declare ^H5046 to us what ^H834 is going to take ^H7136 place ^H7136;

As for the former ^H7223 events, declare ^H5046 what ^H4100 they were,

So that we may consider ^H7760 H3820 them and know ^H3045 their outcome ^H319.

Or ^H176 announce ^H8085 to us what is coming ^H935;

23 Declare ^H5046 the things ^H857 that are going ^H857 to ^H857 come ^H857 afterward ^H268,

So that we may know ^H3045 that you are gods ^H430;

Indeed ^H637, do ^H3190 good ^H3190 or evil ^H7489, that we may be ^H8159 afraid ^H8159 and fear ^H3372 together ^H3162.

24 Behold ^H2005, you are less ^H4480 than ^H4480 nothing ^H369,

And your work ^H6467 is less ^H4480 than ^H4480 nothing ^H657!

He who chooses ^H977 you is an abomination ^H8441.

25 “I have put ^H5782 one from the north ^H6828 into ^H5782 motion ^H5782, and he has come ^H857;

From the rising ^H4217 of the sun ^H8121 he will call ^H7121 on My name ^H8034;

And he will come ^H935 upon rulers ^H5461 as upon [fn]mortar ^H2563,

As the potter ^H3335 treads ^H7429 on ^H7429 clay ^H2563.”

26 Who ^H4310 has declared ^H5046 this from the beginning ^H7218, that we might know ^H3045?

Or from former ^H6440 times ^H6440, that we may say ^H559, “He is right ^H6662!”?

There ^H369 was ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 at ^H637 all ^H637 who declared ^H5046,

27 “Previously ^H7223 I said to Zion ^H6726, ‘Behold ^H2009, here ^H2009 they are.’

And to Jerusalem ^H3389, ‘I will give ^H5414 a messenger ^H1319 of ^H1319 good ^H1319 news ^H1319.’

28 “But when I look ^H7200, there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H376,

And there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 counselor ^H3289 [fn]among ^H4480 them

Who, if I ask ^H7592, can give ^H7725 an answer ^H1697.

29 “Behold ^H2005, all ^H3605 of them are [fn]false ^H205;

Their works ^H4639 are nothing ^H657,

Their cast ^H5262 metal ^H5262 images ^H5262 are wind ^H7307 and emptiness ^H8414.
