Psalm 35 :: New American Standard Bible 2020 (NASB20)

A Psalm of David.

Contend ^H7378, LORD ^H3068, with those who contend ^H3401 with me;

Fight ^H3898 against ^H854 those who fight ^H3898 against me.

Take ^H2388 hold ^H2388 of [fn]buckler ^H4043 and shield ^H6793

And rise ^H6965 up ^H6965 as my help ^H5833.

Draw ^H7324 also the spear ^H2595 and [fn]the battle-axe ^H5463 to meet ^H7122 those who pursue ^H7291 me;

Say ^H559 to my soul ^H5315, “I am your salvation ^H3444.”

Let those be ^H954 ashamed ^H954 and dishonored ^H3637 who seek ^H1245 my [fn]life ^H5315;

Let those be turned ^H5472 back ^H268 and humiliated ^H3637 who devise ^H2803 evil ^H7451 against me.

Let them be like chaff ^H4671 before ^H6440 the wind ^H7307,

With the angel ^H4397 of the LORD ^H3068 driving ^H1760 them on ^H1760.

Let their way ^H1870 be dark ^H2822 and slippery ^H2519,

With the angel ^H4397 of the LORD ^H3068 pursuing ^H7291 them.

For they hid ^H2934 their net ^H7568 for me without ^H2600 cause ^H2600;

Without ^H2600 cause ^H2600 they dug ^H2658 a pit ^H7845 for my soul ^H5315.

Let destruction ^H7722 come ^H935 upon him when he is ^H3045 unaware ^H3808 H3045,

And let the net ^H7568 which ^H834 he hid ^H2934 catch ^H3920 him;

Let him fall ^H5307 into that very destruction ^H7722.

So my soul ^H5315 shall rejoice ^H1523 in the LORD ^H3068;

It shall rejoice ^H7797 in His salvation ^H3444.

All ^H3605 my bones ^H6106 will say ^H559, “LORD ^H3068, who ^H4310 is like ^H3644 You,

Who rescues ^H5337 the afflicted ^H6041 from one who is too ^H4480 strong ^H2389 for him,

And the afflicted ^H6041 and the poor ^H34 from one who robs ^H1497 him?”

Malicious ^H2555 witnesses ^H5707 rise ^H6965 up ^H6965;

They ask ^H7592 me things that I do not know ^H3045.

They repay ^H7999 me evil ^H7451 for good ^H2896,

To the bereavement ^H7908 of my soul ^H5315.

But as for me, when they were ^H2470 sick ^H2470, my clothing ^H3830 was sackcloth ^H8242;

I humbled ^H6031 my soul ^H5315 with fasting ^H6685,

But my prayer ^H8605 kept returning ^H7725 to [fn]me.

I went ^H1980 about ^H1980 as though it were my friend ^H7453 or brother ^H251;

I bowed ^H7817 down ^H7817 [fn]in ^H7817 mourning ^H6937, like one ^H57 who ^H57 mourns ^H57 for a mother ^H517.

But at my [fn]stumbling ^H6761 they rejoiced ^H8055 and gathered ^H622 themselves together;

The [fn]afflicted ^H5223 people ^H5223 whom I did not know ^H3045 gathered ^H622 together against ^H5921 me,

They [fn]slandered ^H7167 me without ^H3808 ceasing ^H1826.

Like godless ^H2611 jesters ^H3934 at a feast ^H4580,

They gnashed ^H2786 at me with their teeth ^H8127.

Lord ^H136, how ^H4100 long ^H4100 will You look ^H7200 on?

Rescue ^H7725 my soul ^H5315 from their ravages ^H7722,

My only ^H3173 life from the lions ^H3715.

I will give ^H3034 You thanks ^H3034 in the great ^H7227 congregation ^H6951;

I will praise ^H1984 You among a mighty ^H6099 people ^H5971.

Do not let those who are wrongfully ^H8267 my enemies ^H340 rejoice ^H8055 over me;

Nor let those who hate ^H8130 me for ^H2600 no ^H2600 reason ^H2600 [fn]wink ^H7169 maliciously ^H7169 H5869.

For they do not speak ^H1696 peace ^H7965,

But they devise ^H2803 deceitful ^H4820 words ^H1697 against ^H5921 those ^H7282 who are quiet ^H7282 in the land ^H776.

They opened ^H7337 their mouth ^H6310 wide ^H7337 against ^H5921 me;

They said ^H559, “Aha ^H1889, aha ^H1889! Our eyes ^H5869 have seen ^H7200 it!”

You have seen ^H7200 it, LORD ^H3068, do not keep ^H2790 silent ^H2790;

Lord ^H136, do not be ^H7368 far ^H7368 from me.

Stir ^H5782 Yourself, and awake ^H6974 to my right ^H4941

And to my cause ^H7379, my God ^H430 and my Lord ^H136.

Judge ^H8199 me, LORD ^H3068 my God ^H430, according to Your righteousness ^H6664,

And do not let them rejoice ^H8055 over me.

Do not let them say ^H559 in their heart ^H3820, “Aha ^H1889, our desire ^H5315!”

Do not let them say ^H559, “We have swallowed ^H1104 him up ^H1104!”

May those be ^H954 ashamed ^H954 and altogether ^H3162 humiliated ^H2659 who rejoice ^H8056 at my distress ^H7451;

May those who exalt ^H1431 themselves over ^H5921 me be clothed ^H3847 with shame ^H1322 and dishonor ^H3639.

May those shout ^H7442 for ^H7442 joy ^H7442 and rejoice ^H8055, who ^H2655 take ^H2655 delight ^H2655 in my vindication ^H6664;

And may they say ^H559 continually ^H8548, “The LORD ^H3068 be exalted ^H1431,

Who ^H2655 delights ^H2655 in the prosperity ^H7965 of His servant ^H5650.”

And my tongue ^H3956 shall proclaim ^H1897 Your righteousness ^H6664

And Your praise ^H8416 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long.
