PSALM 44

Former Times of Help and Present Troubles.

1 God ^H430, we have heard ^H8085 with our ears ^H241,

Our fathers ^H1 have told ^H5608 us

The work ^H6467 that You did ^H6466 in their days ^H3117,

In the days ^H3117 of old ^H6924.

2 You with Your own hand ^H3027 drove ^H3423 out ^H3423 the nations ^H1471;

Then You planted ^H5193 them;

You afflicted ^H7489 the peoples ^H3816,

Then You let ^H7971 them go ^H7971 free ^H7971.

3 For by their own sword ^H2719 they did not possess ^H3423 the land ^H776,

And their own arm ^H2220 did not save ^H3467 them,

But Your right ^H3225 hand ^H3225 and Your arm ^H2220 and the light ^H216 of Your presence ^H6440,

For You favored ^H7521 them.

4 You are my King ^H4428, God ^H430;

Command ^H6680 [fn]victories ^H3444 for Jacob ^H3290.

5 Through You we will push ^H5055 back ^H5055 our adversaries ^H6862;

19 Yet ^H3588 You have crushed ^H1794 us in a place ^H4725 of jackals ^H8565

20 If ^H518 we had forgotten ^H7911 the name ^H8034 of our God ^H430

Or extended ^H6566 our [fn]hands ^H3709 to a strange ^H2114 god ^H410,

21 Would God ^H430 not find ^H2713 this ^H2088 out ^H2713?

For He knows ^H3045 the secrets ^H8587 of the heart ^H3820.

22 But for ^H5921 Your sake ^H5921 we are killed ^H2026 all ^H3605 day ^H3117 long;

We are regarded ^H2803 as sheep ^H6629 to be slaughtered ^H2878.

23 Wake ^H5782 Yourself up ^H5782, why ^H4100 do You sleep ^H3462, Lord ^H136?

Awake ^H6974, do not reject ^H2186 us forever ^H5331.

24 Why ^H4100 do You hide ^H5641 Your face ^H6440

And forget ^H7911 our affliction ^H6040 and oppression ^H3906?

25 For our souls ^H5315 have sunk ^H7743 down ^H7743 into the dust ^H6083;

Our bodies ^H990 cling ^H1692 to the earth ^H776.

26 Rise ^H6965 up ^H6965, be our help ^H5833,

And redeem ^H6299 us because ^H4616 of Your mercy ^H2617.
