PSALM 69

A Cry of Distress and a Curse on Adversaries.

For the music director; according to [fn]Shoshannim. A Psalm of David.

1 Save ^H3467 me, God ^H430,

For the waters ^H4325 have [fn]threatened ^H935 H5704 my life ^H5315.

2 I have sunk ^H2883 in deep ^H4688 mud ^H3121, and there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 foothold ^H4613;

I have come ^H935 into deep ^H4615 waters ^H4325, and a [fn]flood ^H7641 overflows ^H7857 me.

3 I am weary ^H3021 with my crying ^H7121; my throat ^H1627 is ^H2787 parched ^H2787;

My eyes ^H5869 fail ^H3615 while I wait ^H3176 for my God ^H430.

4 Those who hate ^H8130 me without ^H2600 a cause ^H2600 are ^H7231 more ^H7231 than ^H4480 the hairs ^H8185 of my head ^H7218;

Those who would [fn]destroy ^H6789 me are ^H6105 powerful ^H6105, those who oppose ^H340 me with lies ^H8267;

What ^H834 I did not steal ^H1497, I then ^H227 have to restore ^H7725.

5 God ^H430, You know ^H3045 my foolishness ^H200,

And my guilt ^H819 is not hidden ^H3582 from You.

6 May those who wait ^H6960 for You not be ^H954 ashamed ^H954 because of me, Lord ^H136 [fn]GOD ^H3068 of armies ^H6635;

May those who seek ^H1245 You not be dishonored ^H3637 because of me, God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478,

7 Because ^H3588 for ^H5921 Your sake ^H5921 I have endured ^H5375 disgrace ^H2781;

Dishonor ^H3639 has covered ^H3680 my face ^H6440.

8 I have become ^H1961 estranged ^H2114 [fn]from my brothers ^H251,

And a stranger ^H5237 to my mother’s ^H517 sons ^H1121.

9 For zeal ^H7068 for Your house ^H1004 has consumed ^H398 me,

And the taunts ^H2781 of those who taunt ^H2778 You have fallen ^H5307 on me.

10 When I wept ^H1058 in my soul ^H5315 with fasting ^H6685,

It became ^H1961 my disgrace ^H2781.

11 When I made ^H5414 sackcloth ^H8242 my clothing ^H3830,

I became ^H1961 a proverb ^H4912 to them.

12 Those who sit ^H3427 in the gate ^H8179 talk ^H7878 about me,

And songs ^H5058 of ^H5058 mockery ^H5058 by those habitually ^H7941 H8354 drunk ^H7941 H8354 are about me.

13 But as for me, my prayer ^H8605 is to You, LORD ^H3068, at an acceptable ^H7522 time ^H6256;

God ^H430, in the greatness ^H7230 of Your mercy ^H2617,

Answer ^H6030 me with [fn]Your saving ^H3468 truth ^H571.

14 Rescue ^H5337 me from the mud ^H2916 and do not let me sink ^H2883;

May I be rescued ^H5337 from those who hate ^H8130 me, and from the depths ^H4615 of water ^H4325.

15 May the [fn]flood ^H7641 of water ^H4325 not overflow ^H7857 me

Nor ^H408 the deep ^H4688 swallow ^H1104 me up ^H1104,

Nor ^H408 the pit ^H875 close ^H332 its mouth ^H6310 on me.

16 Answer ^H6030 me, LORD ^H3068, for Your mercy ^H2617 is good ^H2896;

According to the greatness ^H7230 of Your compassion ^H7356, turn ^H6437 to me,

17 And do not hide ^H5641 Your face ^H6440 from Your servant ^H5650,

For I am ^H6887 in ^H6887 distress ^H6887; answer ^H6030 me quickly ^H4118.

18 Come ^H7126 near ^H7126 to my soul ^H5315 and redeem ^H1350 it;

Ransom ^H6299 me because ^H4616 of my enemies ^H340!

19 You know ^H3045 my disgrace ^H2781, my shame ^H1322, and my dishonor ^H3639;

All ^H3605 my enemies ^H6887 are [fn]known ^H5048 to You.

20 Disgrace ^H2781 has broken ^H7665 my heart ^H3820, and I am so sick ^H5136.

And I waited ^H6960 for sympathy ^H5110, but there ^H369 was ^H369 none ^H369;

And for comforters ^H5162, but I found ^H4672 none ^H3808.

21 They also gave ^H5414 me [fn]a bitter ^H7219 herb ^H7219 in my food ^H1267,

And for my thirst ^H6772 they gave ^H8248 me vinegar ^H2558 to ^H8248 drink ^H8248.

22 May their table ^H7979 before ^H6440 them become ^H1961 a snare ^H4170;

And [fn]when they are at peace ^H7965, may it become a trap ^H4170.

23 May their eyes ^H5869 grow ^H2821 dim ^H2821 so ^H4480 that ^H4480 they cannot ^H4480 see ^H7200,

And make their hips ^H4975 shake ^H4571 continually ^H8548.

24 Pour ^H8210 out ^H8210 Your indignation ^H2195 on them,

And may Your burning ^H2740 anger ^H639 overtake ^H5381 them.

25 May their [fn]camp ^H2918 be ^H8074 desolated ^H8074;

May there be none ^H408 living ^H3427 in their tents ^H168.

26 For they have persecuted ^H7291 him whom ^H834 You Yourself ^H859 struck ^H5221,

And they tell ^H5608 of the pain ^H4341 of those whom You have [fn]wounded ^H2491.

27 Add ^H5414 guilt ^H5771 to their guilt ^H5771,

And may they not come ^H935 into Your righteousness ^H6666.

28 May they be wiped ^H4229 out ^H4229 of the book ^H5612 of life ^H2416,

And may they not be [fn]recorded ^H3789 with the righteous ^H6662.

29 But I am afflicted ^H6041 and in ^H3510 pain ^H3510;

[fn]May Your salvation ^H3444, God ^H430, set ^H7682 me safely on ^H7682 high ^H7682.

30 I will praise ^H1984 the name ^H8034 of God ^H430 with song ^H7892,

And exalt ^H1431 Him with thanksgiving ^H8426.

31 And it will please ^H3190 the LORD ^H3068 better ^H3190 than ^H4480 an ox ^H7794

Or bull ^H6499 with horns ^H7161 and hoofs ^H6536.

32 The humble ^H6035 [fn]have seen ^H7200 it and are ^H8055 glad ^H8055;

You who seek ^H1875 God ^H430, let your heart ^H3824 [fn]revive ^H2421.

33 For the LORD ^H3068 hears ^H8085 the needy ^H34,

And does not despise ^H959 those of His who are prisoners ^H615.

34 Heaven ^H8064 and earth ^H776 shall praise ^H1984 Him,

The seas ^H3220 and everything ^H3605 that moves ^H7430 in them.

35 For God ^H430 will save ^H3467 Zion ^H6726 and build ^H1129 the cities ^H5892 of Judah ^H3063,

So that they may live ^H3427 there ^H8033 and possess ^H3423 it.

36 The [fn]descendants ^H2233 of His servants ^H5650 will inherit ^H5157 it,

And those who love ^H157 His name ^H8034 will live ^H7931 in it.
