Cherish:
primarily means "to heat, to soften by heat;" then, "to keep warm," as of birds covering their young with their feathers, Deu 22:6, Sept.; metaphorically, "to cherish with tender love, to foster with tender care," in Eph 5:29 of Christ and the Church; in 1Th 2:7 of the care of the saints at Thessalonica by the Apostle and his associates, as of a nurse for her children.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
