Dumah:
(silence).
(1.) A son of Ishmael, most probably the founder of the Ishmaelite tribe of Arabia, and thence the name of the principal place of district inhabited by that tribe (Genesis 25:14; 1 Chronicles 1:30; Isaiah 21:11).
(2.) A city in the mountainous district of Judah, near Hebron (Joshua 15:52) represented by the ruins of a village called ed‐Daumeh, six miles southwest of Hebron.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
