Gerar:
(a lodging‐place) a very ancient city south of Gaza. It occurs chiefly in Genesis (Genesis 10:19; 20:1; 26:17) also incidentally in 2 Chronicles 14:13-14. It must have trenched on the "south" or "south country" of later Palestine. From a comparison of Genesis 21:32 with Genesis 26:23; 26:26, Beersheba would seem to be just on the verge of this territory, and perhaps to be its limit towards the northeast.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
