Heman:
(faithful).
(1.) Son of Zerah (1 Chronicles 2:6; 1 Kings 4:31).
(2.) Son of Joel and grandson of Samuel the prophet, a Kohathite. He is called "the singer," rather the musician (1 Chronicles 6:33) and was the first of the three Levites to whom was committed the vocal and instrumental music of the temple service in the reign of David (1 Chronicles 15:16-22). The 88th Psalm is ascribed to him. (B.C. 1014)
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
