Rabshakeh:
(chief cupbearer) (2 Kings 19:1; Isaiah 36:1; Isaiah 37:1). … one of the officers of the king of Assyria sent against Jerusalem in the reign of Hezekiah. SEE [HEZEKIAH]. (B.C. 713) The English version takes Rabshakeh as the name of a person; but it is more probably the name of the office which he held at the court, that of chief cupbearer.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
