But he said, “Far be it from me that I should do so; the man in whose hand the cup was found, he shall be my slave. And as for you, go up in peace to your father.”

“No,” Joseph said. “I would never do such a thing! Only the man who stole the cup will be my slave. The rest of you may go back to your father in peace.”

Then Joseph said, “I swear that I will not do this. The man in whose possession the cup was found will be my slave. The rest of you can go in peace to your father.”

εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ μή μοι γένοιτο ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ἄνθρωπος παρ᾽ εὑρέθη τὸ κόνδυ αὐτὸς ἔσται μου παῖς ὑμεῖς δὲ ἀνάβητε μετὰ σωτηρίας πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν

فَقَالَ: «حَاشَا لِي أَنْ أَفْعَلَ هذَا! الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي وُجِدَ الطَّاسُ فِي يَدِهِ هُوَ يَكُونُ لِي عَبْدًا، وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَاصْعَدُوا بِسَلاَمٍ إِلَى أَبِيكُمْ».

فَقَالَ: «حَاشَا لِي أَنْ أَفْعَلَ هَذَا؛ إِنَّمَا الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي عُثِرَ مَعَهُ عَلَى الْكَأْسِ هُوَ يَكُونُ لِي عَبْداً، أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَامْضُوا إِلَى أَبِيكُمْ بِأَمَانٍ».
