ثُمَّ سَارَ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ مَسِيرَةَ يَوْمٍ، حَتَّى أَتَى وَجَلَسَ تَحْتَ رَتَمَةٍ وَطَلَبَ الْمَوْتَ لِنَفْسِهِ، وَقَالَ: «قَدْ كَفَى الآنَ يَا رَبُّ. خُذْ نَفْسِي لأَنِّي لَسْتُ خَيْرًا مِنْ آبَائِي».
