As the sun was setting, a deep sleep came over Abram, and suddenly great terror and darkness descended on him.
When the sun was setting, a deep sleep overcame Abram; and a horror (terror, shuddering fear, nightmare) of great darkness overcame him.
وَلَمَّا صَارَتِ الشَّمْسُ إِلَى الْمَغِيبِ، وَقَعَ عَلَى أَبْرَامَ سُبَاتٌ، وَإِذَا رُعْبَةٌ مُظْلِمَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ وَاقِعَةٌ عَلَيْهِ.
