فَبَعَثُوا وَاسْتَدْعَوْا أَقْطَابَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ وَقَالُوا: «أَعِيدُوا تَابُوتَ إِلَهِ إِسْرَائِيلَ فَيَرْجِعَ إِلَى مَوْضِعِهِ وَلا يُفْنِيَنَا نَحْنُ وَشَعْبَنَا»؛ لأَنَّ الْمَوْتَ قَدْ مَلأَ الْمَدِينَةَ بِالرُّعْبِ، إذْ صَارَتْ وَطْأَةُ يَدِ الرَّبِّ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَقِيلَةً جِدّاً،
