Abner talked with the elders (tribal leaders) of Israel, saying, “In times past you were seeking for David to be king over you.
وَكَانَ كَلاَمُ أَبْنَيْرَ إِلَى شُيُوخِ إِسْرَائِيلَ قَائِلاً: «قَدْ كُنْتُمْ مُنْذُ أَمْسٍ وَمَا قَبْلَهُ تَطْلُبُونَ دَاوُدَ لِيَكُونَ مَلِكًا عَلَيْكُمْ.
