Remember What You Were

Ephesians 2:11-13

Theme: The need to remember

Point: Your relationships with God, other believers, and the lost people in your life will greatly benefit from you simply remembering what you were before Christ saved you.

Probing Question: Have you forgotten what you were before Christ saved you?

Outline:

  1. Remember how far away from God you were without Christ (Eph 2:11-12).
    1. You were naturally alienated from God (v. 11).
      1. Your behavior was against you (Eph. 2:1-3).
      2. Your birth was against you (v. 11a).
      3. Your background was against you (v. 11a).
    2. You were spiritually alienated from God (v. 12).
      1. You were separated from Christ.
      2. You were alienated from the commonwealth of Israel.
      3. You were strangers to the covenants of promise.
      4. You were without hope.
      5. You were without God in the world.
  2. Remember how God brought you near to himself through Christ (Eph 2:13).
