Trust God

Proverbs 3:5-6

Theme: Trust in the Lord

Point: Life at its best is only experienced when you trust God beyond what you can understand.

Outline:

  1. Trust God with everything: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart" (v. 5a).
    1. The call to trust: "trust".
    2. The object of trust: "in the Lord".
    3. The nature of trust: "with all your heart".
  2. Trust God above everything: "and do not lean on your own understanding" (v. 5b).
    1. God wants your mind (Ps. 26:2; Isaiah 1:18; Matt. 22:37; Rom. 12:2; Phil. 2:5).
    2. God does not want you to all your finite mind to cause you to mistrust him.
  3. Trust God in everything: "In all your ways acknowledge him" (v. 6a).
  4. Trust God through everything: "and he will make straight your paths" (v. 6b).
    1. This is a promise of divine guidance: "And he shall direct your paths". (NKJV)
    2. This is a promise of divine intervention: "and he will make straight your paths". (ESV)
