Psalm 119:129-136

Theme: The wonderful word of God

Point: You can move beyond the common life by embracing the wonder of God's word.

Transitional Sentence: Embracing the wonder of God's word will transform your life specifically in three ways.

Outline:

  1. The word of God will renew your mind (Psa 119:129-131).
    Verses 129-131 shows us three attitudes you must have in order to experience the power of God's word to renew your mind.
    1. An attitude of reverence (v. 129).
    2. An attitude of openness (v. 130).
    3. An attitude of longing (v. 131).
  2. The word of God will change your ways (Psa 119:132-135).
    Verses 132-135 record four things you should pray for in order to experience the power of God's word to change your ways.
    1. Pray for God's gracious intervention (v. 132).
    2. Pray for God's sanctifying power (v. 133).
    3. Pray for God's mighty deliverance (v. 134).
    4. Pray for God's divine favor (v. 135).
  3. The word of God will break your heart (Psa 119:136).
    1. Godly sorrow ought to lead you to talk to God about unbelievers.
    2. Godly sorrow ought to lead you to talk to unbelievers about God.
