犹大、加利利和撒玛利亚的教会经历了一段短暂的和平时期。我们可以推断，扫罗/保罗是迫害教会的主要煽动者。现在他走了，教会有机会重建，继续成长，增加信徒的数量。它因敬畏主而兴旺，并在圣灵中找到安慰。法利赛人和撒都该人显然已经停止了迫害运动。扫罗是他们在迫害中最宝贵的资产，他已成为耶稣的门徒，目前已逃往基里西亚。也可能是他的皈依让他们暂停了继续迫害耶稣的教会。

在吕大，彼得遇见了一个名叫埃涅阿斯的人，他因瘫痪而卧床八年。
彼得凭借基督和圣灵的力量行了一个奇迹，“埃涅阿斯，耶稣基督医治了你；起来，整理你的床铺。” 这位曾经瘫痪的人立刻站了起来。他可以走路了。他可以整理自己的床铺了。彼得在使徒行传第 3 章中在圣殿里治愈了一名瘫痪者，估计使数千人信奉基督。彼得总是确信这些医治归功于耶稣作为上帝之子的力量（使徒行传 3:16），并行这些奇迹是为了让人们的心信奉他。
这正是在吕大和邻近的沙仑地区所发生的事情：凡住在吕大和沙仑的人，见以尼雅能行走，就归服了主。显然，以尼雅是当地出了名的瘫痪病人，看到他靠着耶稣基督的力量四处行走，邻居们的心就打开了，接受了彼得传授的好消息。在记录这一事件时，路加讲述了耶稣教会的发展。但他也记录了彼得在犹太人中行医的奇迹，就像保罗在外邦人中行医的奇迹一样（使徒行传 28：8-10）。这样，路加证实了保罗是耶稣派往外邦人的使徒，他的权威就是耶稣的权威。
