申命记 24:6 含义

第 6 节中的律法规定,任何人不得拿磨或上磨石作抵押(第 6 节)。是一种由两块石板组成的装置:一块上磨石和一块下磨石。它用于在两块石头之间磨谷物以制成面粉,用来烤面包。谷物通常放在底部的石头上,磨坊主将上磨石在固定的水平石头上来回移动。在古代以色列,磨谷物做面包是必不可少的,因为这是人们日常食物和生计的来源。因此,拿走并扣留一个人的或甚至上磨石作为抵押品(或担保品)以偿还债务,就等于剥夺他的家人制作面粉做面包的手段。这样做就等于拿人的生命作抵押

这条律法旨在保护以色列的穷人,确保他们能够满足基本需求。这对以色列社区的福祉至关重要。上帝的圣约律法是一种鼓励自治、关心和爱护他人的结构(利未记 19:18)。上帝呼吁以色列人与众不同、圣洁自守,不要效仿异教国家的文化,即强者剥削弱者。这条律法禁止这种剥削。

在实际应用中,它强调了人比金钱或物质财产更重要的原则。因此,法律允许贷方扣留借款人的物品作为抵押,直到借款人还清债务,但不得虐待借款人或剥夺借款人生存所需的物品,使借款人的情况恶化。

在后来的以色列历史中,先知耶利米预言,在巴比伦之囚(公元前 586 年)期间,将不再有“磨石的响声和灯光”(耶利米书 25:10)。这意味着面包和光-生存的两大必需品-将会缺乏。

拿走这些工具(手磨磨石)就等于剥夺一个人的日常必需品和谋生手段。这样做会剥夺他自给自足的能力,剥夺他做人的尊严。
