第三个献祭以将那一只公绵羊牵来作为开始。与第一个献祭中的公牛和第一只公绵羊一样，亚伦和他儿子要按手在羊的头上，让他们再次认同这只祭牲：它要死，而非他们要死。
按手在羊的头上之后，祭司要宰这羊。然后，他们要取点血抹在亚伦的右耳垂上和他儿子的右耳垂上。耳朵需要洁净，以预备他们聆听神的话语。
他们也要把血抹在他们右手的大拇指上。这大拇指用来完成耶和华面前的服侍，因此需要洁净。同样，也要抹在右脚的大拇指上。这是要洁净他们在耶和华面前的行动，也是向百姓显示，作为神的百姓，如何行事的可见证据。
最后，他们需要把血洒在坛的四围。使用坛上相同的血显明，亚伦和他儿子们是可以亲近祭坛的人。
