下一个要献的祭物是第一节所提到的公绵羊。摩西受吩咐要牵一只公绵羊来。记住，耶和华吩咐说仪式中要有两只公绵羊 (出埃及记 29:1)。与公牛一样，亚伦和他儿子要按手在这羊的头上，作为可见证据，显明他们的罪被挪移到公绵羊身上，公绵羊要献上洁净他们的罪，以供祭司职分。
献祭流程如下：
他们要宰这羊。希伯来文 "宰" ( "shakhat" ) 几乎都用于礼仪献祭。之后，他们需要把血洒在坛的周围。这就洁净了坛，使坛成为献祭给耶和华的地方。
接下来，他们需要把羊切成块子，洗净五脏和腿。这些都是牲畜身上最脏的部位，最需要清洁的。他们受吩咐要连块子带头，都放在一处。
最后，他们要把全羊烧在坛上。这样，就没有剩余。整个祭牲都属于耶和华。
18 节的最后部分总结了这一祭物的意义。耶和华说，这是给耶和华献的燔祭。希伯来文 "燔祭" 一词 ( "'ola" ) 意思是整个祭牲都要用火焚烧，而其它祭物只烧部分。燔祭的烟要往上走，是为馨香，献给耶和华的礼物。这样，公绵羊就是献给耶和华的火祭。希伯来文 "'ola" 一词的字面意思是 "上升"。这烟上到神那里，取悦于祂。这样，耶稣就是 'ola 祭，他的献祭升到神那里，他自己也升到父那里。
