这两节经文指明，亚伦的圣衣要传给他的子孙，因为耶和华要求将来的祭司穿着受膏，又穿着承接圣职。希伯来文受膏一词 ( "mashkhah" ) 是希伯来文名词 "meshiakh" 或 "弥赛亚" 的动词形式。大祭司要作受膏者来到耶和华面前，为百姓代祷。希伯来文 "承接圣职" 一词的字面意思是 "充满他们的手"，指的是他们要在帐幕耶和华面前服侍的事工。耶稣是 "受膏者" 弥赛亚，要应验所有有关他的话，包括作比亚伦和他子孙 (后来称为利未人祭司，希伯来书 7:11；8:1-6 ) 更大的大祭司。
