除了组成帐幕墙的幔子外，巧匠们也用山羊毛织十一幅幔子，作为帐幕以上的罩棚。这些幔子是用山羊毛制造，用作帐幕的顶。
他们做了幔子，每幅幔子长三十肘，宽四肘。这样每幅幔子就是四十五英尺长 (13.7 米)，六英尺宽 (1.8 米)。十一幅幔子都是一样的尺寸。为了做帐幕的罩棚，巧匠总监比撒列把五幅幔子连成一幅，又把六幅幔子连成一幅。
如出埃及记 26:10 所述，他在这相连的幔子末幅边上做五十个钮扣，在那相连的幔子末幅边上也做五十个钮扣。与其它幔子一样 (8-13 节)，纽扣是用来将幔子连在一起的。
为了将纽扣扣在一起，他又做五十个铜钩，使罩棚连成一个 (18 节)。这些钩子是用铜所做，而不像组成幔子内墙的幔子一样，是用金子所做。
最后，他用染红的公羊皮做罩棚的盖，再用海狗皮做一层罩棚上的顶盖 (19 节)。海狗皮 ( "takhashim" ) 一词的含义有很大的争议。有些翻译将该词指向了 "獾皮"；其他人将其译为 "上好的皮子"。不管怎样，该材料一定是搭在公羊皮幔子上耐用性强的顶盖。
这顶盖是罩在帐幕顶部幔子之上的。这就为持续暴露在旷野恶劣环境下的顶部提供了额外的保护和耐久性。
