上帝知道我们的一切（见前文对第 13-16 节的注释） ，大卫惊叹上帝的思想是多么宝贵。上帝的思想具有巨大的价值，其存在本身就值得敬畏。存在的一切都始于上帝的思想，因此很难理解它们的总和有多么庞大。上帝知道的事情如此之多，如果我们把它们数一数，它们的数量将比沙子还多。
我们如何知道上帝的想法？通过聆听祂。上帝用许多方式对我们说话。只要我们有耳朵可以听，祂的创造物就会对我们说话（诗篇 19:1-4；罗马书 1:19-20）。只要我们有耳朵可以听，祂的文字就会对我们说话（雅各书 1:21；提摩太后书 3:16；启示录 3:19-20）。
大卫强调两件事：第一，神的意念对我们来说应该非常有价值，值得我们深思；第二，神的意念太多，我们无法知道，更无法理解。然而，当我们听从神时，我们受益匪浅。
上帝无所不知，无所不能，他不会忘记我们。大卫知道，他每晚都能满怀信心地入睡，说“当我醒来时，我仍然和你在一起” 。上帝不会轻视他与我们的关系。由于他存在于空间和时间的限制之外，所以当我们睡觉和醒来时，他都在我们身边，不会因为其他事情而忽视我们。
