这盼望是眼所未见的，因为所见的盼望不是盼望，谁还盼望他所见的呢？如果你知道一场比赛的结果，就不可能盼望一支队伍能够打败另一支队伍，因为你已经看到了结果，你已经知道谁会赢，谁会输。盼望不是在你已经看到结果后所能拥有的。所以，我们信徒在忍耐中急切等候耶稣的再来和他对万物的恢复，就好像我们看到了一样。我们若盼望那所不见的，就必忍耐等候。因此，我们当坚定地行在圣灵中，救赎地球的一部分，直到祂将其完全恢复 (15-19 节)。
在哥林多后书 5:6-8 中，保罗重述了在看不见的盼望中忍耐行事的概念：
"所以，我们时常坦然无惧，并且晓得我们住在身内，便与主相离。因我们行事为人是凭着信心，不是凭着眼见。我们坦然无惧，是更愿意离开身体与主同住。"
作为信徒，在 (盼望中) 等待与神同在的过程中，我们当凭信行事、忍耐、与圣灵同行。保罗在第 7 章详细地讨论了与我们有罪的肉体分离的这一期待。
