Em Provérbios 10:14, Salomão diz: Os sábios entesouram o conhecimento, mas a boca do insensato é destruição iminente (v. 14). A sabedoria lida com o conhecimento com cuidado. Os sábios não o revelam impulsivamente; eles o reúnem, o preservam e o aplicam no momento oportuno.
Acumular conhecimento sugere responsabilidade. Os sábios tratam o entendimento como algo valioso, algo a ser guardado e bem utilizado. Eles ouvem, refletem e aprendem antes de falar, por isso, estão mais bem preparados para agir com fidelidade quando o momento chegar.
O tolo faz o oposto. Sua boca traz a destruição iminente para perto, pois ele fala de forma descuidada e prematura. Em vez de acumular sabedoria, ele libera insensatez. Este versículo nos lembra que saber quando falar e quando calar é, em si, parte da sabedoria.
