O contraste apresentado por Salomão em Provérbios 12:12 revela que O perverso deseja a rede dos maus, mas a raiz dos justos dá fruto (v. 12). Os ímpios são atraídos pelo que o mal parece ganhar. Eles querem o resultado final sem se importar com o caminho percorrido.
Desejar os despojos dos "homens maus" é invejar os lucros obtidos pela injustiça. Isso reflete um coração cativado pela recompensa imediata em vez da verdade a longo prazo. É mais uma forma de engano: ver o ganho e esquecer a ruína que o acompanha.
A raiz da justiça, em contraste, produz frutos. A justiça não se limita a tomar posse; ela produz. Como uma raiz saudável que alimenta uma árvore viva, a justiça gera resultados constantes e vivificantes ao longo do tempo. Esse é o contraste entre a apropriação e a estabilidade frutífera.
