“The blood on the houses where you are staying will be a distinguishing mark for you; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

I see them from the top of rocky cliffs,

and I watch them from the hills.

There is a people living alone;

it does not consider itself among the nations.

“Please let me cross over and see the beautiful land on the other side of the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon.

“I'll go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are and talk to him about you. When I see what he says, I'll tell you.”

“He said, ‘Please let me go because our clan is holding a sacrifice in the town, and my brother has told me to be there. So now, if I have found favor with you, let me go so I can see my brothers.' That's why he didn't come to the king's table.”

where then is my hope?

Who can see any hope for me?

When he is at work to the north, I cannot see him;

when he turns south, I cannot find him.

“Teach me what I cannot see;

if I have done wrong, I won't do it again.”

When I observe your heavens,

the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you set in place,

How long must I see the signal flag

and hear the sound of the ram's horn?

“Can a person hide in secret places where I cannot see him? ” ​— ​the LORD's declaration. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? ” ​— ​the LORD's declaration.

Because I have sinned against him,

I must endure the LORD's fury

until he champions my cause

and establishes justice for me.

He will bring me into the light;
