LXX Concordance for ἦλθον

He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated, and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan,

The men turned from there and went toward Sodom while Abraham remained standing before the LORD.[fn]

The two angels entered Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting in Sodom's gateway. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them. He bowed with his face to the ground

When they arrived at the place that God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac[fn] and placed him on the altar on top of the wood.

Jacob's sons returned from the field when they heard about the incident. They were deeply grieved and very angry, for Shechem had committed an outrage against Israel by raping Jacob's daughter, and such a thing should not be done.

All his sons and daughters tried to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. “No,” he said. “I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” And his father wept for him.

Every land came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, for the famine was severe in every land.

The sons of Israel were among those who came to buy grain, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

When they reached their father Jacob in the land of Canaan, they told him all that had happened to them:

So they went up from Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan.

So Joseph went and informed Pharaoh: “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all that they own, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in the land of Goshen.”

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Now that your father and brothers have come to you,

When the silver from the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan was gone, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die here in front of you? The silver is gone! ”

When that year was over, they came the next year and said to him, “We cannot hide from our lord that the silver is gone and that all our livestock belongs to our lord. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.

They came to Marah, but they could not drink the water at Marah because it was bitter ​— ​that is why it was named Marah.[fn]

The Israelites ate manna for forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate manna until they reached the border of the land of Canaan.

Two men had remained in the camp, one named Eldad and the other Medad; the Spirit rested on them ​— ​they were among those listed, but had not gone out to the tent ​— ​and they prophesied in the camp.

They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were living. Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.

The men went back to Moses, Aaron, and the entire Israelite community in the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They brought back a report for them and the whole community, and they showed them the fruit of the land.

The entire Israelite community entered the Wilderness of Zin in the first month, and they[fn] settled in Kadesh. Miriam died and was buried there.

The elders of Moab and Midian departed with fees for divination in hand. They came to Balaam and reported Balak's words to him.

The officials of Moab arose, returned to Balak, and reported, “Balaam refused to come with us.”

They came to Balaam and said to him, “This is what Balak son of Zippor says: ‘Let nothing keep you from coming to me,

So Balaam went with Balak, and they came to Kiriath-huzoth.[fn]

They traveled from Marah and came to Elim. There were twelve springs and seventy date palms at Elim, so they camped there.

All the troops who were with him went up and approached the city, arriving opposite Ai, and camped to the north of it, with a valley between them and the city.

So the Israelites set out and reached the Gibeonite cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath-jearim.

When they came to the region of[fn] the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh built a large, impressive altar there by the Jordan.

Kings came and fought.

Then the kings of Canaan fought

at Taanach by the Waters of Megiddo,

but they did not plunder the silver.

So they went out to the countryside and harvested grapes from their vineyards. They trampled the grapes and held a celebration. Then they went to the house of their god, and as they ate and drank, they cursed Abimelech.

The men of Ephraim were called together and crossed the Jordan to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why have you crossed over to fight against the Ammonites but didn't call us to go with you? We will burn your house with you in it! ”

From there they traveled to the hill country of Ephraim and arrived at Micah's house.

After they had taken the gods Micah had made and the priest that belonged to him, they went to Laish, to a quiet and unsuspecting people. They killed them with their swords and burned the city.

He told the messengers who had come, “Tell this to the men of Jabesh-gilead: ‘Deliverance will be yours tomorrow by the time the sun is hot.' ” So the messengers told the men of Jabesh, and they rejoiced.

David's young men retraced their steps. When they returned to him, they reported all these words.

When David's servants came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, “David sent us to bring you to him as a wife.”

“Look,” Absalom explained to Joab, “I sent for you and said, ‘Come here. I want to send you to the king to ask: Why have I come back from Geshur? I'd be better off if I were still there.' So now, let me see the king. If I am guilty, let him kill me.”

Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel of Beth-maacah. All the Berites[fn] came together and followed him.

Three of the thirty leading warriors went down at harvest time and came to David at the cave of Adullam, while a company of Philistines was camping in Rephaim Valley.

They went to Gilead and to the land of the Hittites[fn] and continued on to Dan-jaan and around to Sidon.

They went to Ophir and acquired gold there ​— ​sixteen tons[fn] ​— ​and delivered it to Solomon.

The two wicked men came in and sat opposite him. Then the wicked men testified against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth has cursed God and the king! ” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

So the king died and was brought to Samaria. They buried the king in Samaria.

and Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the LORD is sending me on to Bethel.”

But Elisha replied, “As the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.

When the sons of the prophets from Jericho who were observing saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him and bowed down to the ground in front of him.

Gehazi said, “It's all right. My master has sent me to say, ‘I have just now discovered that two young men from the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them seventy-five pounds[fn] of silver and two sets of clothing.' ”

When Gehazi came to the hill,[fn] he took the gifts from them and deposited them in the house. Then he dismissed the men, and they left.

So he went with them, and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.

he sent horses, chariots, and a massive army there. They went by night and surrounded the city.

So the diseased men got up at twilight to go to the Arameans' camp. When they came to the camp's edge, they discovered that no one was there,

Then Jehu sent messengers throughout all Israel, and all the servants of Baal[fn] came; no one failed to come. They entered the temple of Baal, and it was filled from one end to the other.

Then Elisha died and was buried.

Now Moabite raiders used to come into the land in the spring of the year.

At that time Aram's King Rezin recovered Elath for Aram and expelled the Judahites from Elath. Then the Arameans came to Elath, and they still live there today.

Then the king of Assyria sent the field marshal, the chief of staff, and his royal spokesman, along with a massive army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They advanced and came to Jerusalem, and[fn] they took their position by the aqueduct of the upper pool, by the road to the Launderer's Field.

They said to him, “This is what Hezekiah says: ‘Today is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace, for children have come to the point of birth, but there is no strength to deliver them.

So the servants of King Hezekiah went to Isaiah,

“You have mocked the Lord[fn] through[fn] your messengers.

You have said, ‘With my many chariots

I have gone up to the heights of the mountains,

to the far recesses of Lebanon.

I cut down its tallest cedars,

its choice cypress trees.

I came to its farthest outpost,

its densest forest.

When all the commanders of the armies ​— ​they and their men ​— ​heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah, they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah. The commanders included Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maacathite ​— ​they and their men.

Their father Ephraim mourned a long time, and his relatives[fn] came to comfort him.

When all the men of Israel in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled. So the Philistines came and settled in them.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron. David made a covenant with them at Hebron in the LORD's presence, and they anointed David king over Israel, in keeping with the LORD's word through Samuel.

So the Three broke through the Philistine camp and drew water from the well at the gate of Bethlehem. They brought it back to David, but he refused to drink it. Instead, he poured it out to the LORD.

Other Benjaminites and men from Judah also went to David at the stronghold.

All these warriors, lined up in battle formation, came to Hebron wholeheartedly determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of Israel was also of one mind to make David king.

Now the Philistines had come and raided in Rephaim Valley,

Then David said, “I'll show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.”

So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father. However, when David's emissaries arrived in the land of the Ammonites to console him,

It was reported to David about his men, so he sent messengers to meet them, since the men were deeply humiliated. The king said, “Stay in Jericho until your beards grow back; then return.”

They hired thirty-two thousand chariots and the king of Maacah with his army, who came and camped near Medeba. The Ammonites also came together from their cities for the battle.

When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans had fled, they likewise fled before Joab's brother Abishai and entered the city. Then Joab went to Jerusalem.

All the elders of Israel came, and the Levites picked up the ark.

So Hiram[fn] sent ships to him by his servants along with crews of experienced seamen. They went with Solomon's servants to Ophir, took from there seventeen tons[fn] of gold, and delivered it to King Solomon.

“But I didn't believe their reports until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, I was not even told half of your great wisdom! You far exceed the report I heard.

Those from every tribe of Israel who had determined in their hearts to seek the LORD their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

After this, the Moabites and Ammonites, together with some of the Meunites,[fn] came to fight against Jehoshaphat.

who gathered to seek the LORD. They even came from all the cities of Judah to seek him.

They made a circuit throughout Judah. They gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah and the family heads of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

But some from Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

So they went to the high priest Hilkiah and gave him the silver brought into God's temple. The Levites and the doorkeepers had collected it from Manasseh, Ephraim, and from the entire remnant of Israel, and from all Judah, Benjamin, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

They came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah.

The number of the Israelite men included[fn]

When Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard about this, they mocked and despised us, and said, “What is this you're doing? Are you rebelling against the king? ”

One day the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan[fn] also came with them.

One day the sons of God came again to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them to present himself before the LORD.

His troops advance together;

they construct a ramp[fn] against me

and camp around my tent.

All his brothers, sisters, and former acquaintances came to him and dined with him in his house. They sympathized with him and comforted him concerning all the adversity the LORD had brought on him. Each one gave him a piece of silver[fn] and a gold earring.

So the servants of King Hezekiah went to Isaiah,

Over all the barren heights in the wilderness

the destroyers have come,

for the LORD has a sword that devours

from one end of the earth to the other.

No one has peace.

they all returned from all the places where they had been banished and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah, and harvested a great amount of wine and summer fruit.

Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me.

In the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, some of Israel's elders came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat down in front of me.

The Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, answered, “I went to Gibeah in Benjamin with my concubine to spend the night.

“Now therefore, I've come to present this matter to my lord the king because the people have made me afraid. Your servant thought: I must speak to the king. Perhaps the king will grant his servant's request.

“For your servant knows that I have sinned. But look! Today I am the first one of the entire house of Joseph to come down to meet my lord the king.”

I went to the governors of the region west of the Euphrates and gave them the king's letters. The king had also sent officers of the infantry and cavalry with me.

After I arrived in Jerusalem and had been there three days,

While all this was happening, I was not in Jerusalem, because I had returned to King Artaxerxes of Babylon in the thirty-second year of his reign. It was only later that I asked the king for a leave of absence

“the Sabeans swooped down and took them away. They struck down the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you! ”

“Suddenly a powerful wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on the young people so that they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you! ”

I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no footing;

I have come into deep water,

and a flood sweeps over me.

Why was no one there when I came?

Why was there no one to answer when I called?

Is my arm too weak to redeem?

Or do I have no power to rescue?

Look, I dry up the sea by my rebuke;

I turn the rivers into a wilderness;

their fish rot because of lack of water

and die of thirst.

At that time my sanity returned to me, and my majesty and splendor returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and my nobles sought me out, I was reestablished over my kingdom, and even more greatness came to me.

“At the beginning of your petitions an answer went out, and I have come to give it, for you are treasured by God.[fn] So consider the message and understand the vision:

“Don't be afraid, Daniel,” he said to me, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers.

“Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the last days, for the vision refers to those days.”

He said, “Do you know why I've come to you? I must return at once to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I leave, the prince of Greece will come.
