When they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage at the Mount of Olives, Jesus then sent two disciples,
As soon as they left the synagogue, they went into Simon and Andrew's house with James and John.
Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and around Tyre and Sidon. The large crowd came to him because they heard about everything he was doing.
When John's disciples heard about it, they came and removed his corpse and placed it in a tomb.
So the disciples went out, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
When they came to circumcise the child on the eighth day, they were going to name him Zechariah, after his father.
They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger.
Assuming he was in the traveling party, they went a day's journey. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do? ”
When it was day, he went out and made his way to a deserted place. But the crowds were searching for him. They came to him and tried to keep him from leaving them.
So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
After coming down with them, he stood on a level place with a large crowd of his disciples and a great number of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon.
Then people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man the demons had departed from, sitting at Jesus's feet, dressed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they[fn] came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared.
“and when they didn't find his body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said he was alive.
“Come and you'll see,” he replied. So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.[fn]
So they came to John and told him, “Rabbi, the one you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing — and everyone is going to him.”
Just then his disciples arrived, and they were amazed that he was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, “What do you want? ” or “Why are you talking with her? ”
So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.
When they entered Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him because they had seen everything he did in Jerusalem during the festival. For they also had gone to the festival.
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
“All who came before me[fn] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't listen to them.
Many came to him and said, “John never did a sign, but everything John said about this man was true.”
Then a large crowd of the Jews learned he was there. They came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, the one he had raised from the dead.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man and of the other one who had been crucified with him.
Since they were not far from land (about a hundred yards[fn] away), the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish.
After they were released, they went to their own people and reported everything the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
As they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The eunuch said, “Look, there's water. What would keep me from being baptized? ”[fn]
“The Spirit told me to accompany them with no doubts at all. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we went into the man's house.
After they passed the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went outside and passed one street, and suddenly the angel left him.
Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia, but John left them and went back to Jerusalem.
But Paul and Barnabas shook the dust off their feet against them and went to Iconium.
So they were sent off and went down to Antioch, and after gathering the assembly, they delivered the letter.
After they passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.
But when the Jews from Thessalonica found out that the word of God had been proclaimed by Paul at Berea, they came there too, agitating and upsetting[fn] the crowds.
For he regularly ate with the Gentiles before certain men came from James. However, when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he feared those from the circumcision party.
“Don't think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
“Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I didn't come to call the righteous, but sinners.”[fn]
“Don't assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
“For I came to turn
a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
When Jesus heard this, he told them, “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who are sick. I didn't come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
“I didn't know him, but I came baptizing with water so that he might be revealed to Israel.”
“Even if I testify about myself,” Jesus replied, “my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I'm going. But you don't know where I come from or where I'm going.
Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, in order that those who do not see will see and those who do see will become blind.”
“A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
“Now my soul is troubled. What should I say — Father, save me from this hour? But that is why I came to this hour.
“If anyone hears my words and doesn't keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
“If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin.
“That's why I came without any objection when I was sent for. So may I ask why you sent for me? ”
“Since I couldn't see because of the brightness of the light,[fn] I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and went into Damascus.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, announcing the mystery[fn] of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom.
I call on God as a witness, on my life, that it was to spare you that I did not come to Corinth.
