Now these H428 are the kings H4428 of the land H776 whom H834 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 [fn]defeated H5221, and they took possession H3423 of their land H776 beyond H5676 the Jordan H3383 toward the sunrise H4217 H8121, from the Valley H5158 of the Arnon H769 as far H5704 as Mount H2022 Hermon H2768, and all H3605 the Arabah H6160 to the east H4217:
Now these H428 are the kings H4428 of the land H776 whom H834 Joshua H3091 and the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 [fn]defeated H5221 beyond H5676 the Jordan H3383 toward the west H3220, from Baal-gad H1171 in the Valley H1237 of Lebanon H3844 even as far H5704 as Mount H2022 Halak H2510, which rises H5927 toward Seir H8165; and Joshua H3091 gave H5414 it to the tribes H7626 of Israel H3478 as a possession H3425 according to their divisions H4256,

These H428 are the inheritances H5159 which H834 Eleazar H499 the priest H3548, Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126, and the heads H7218 of the fathers' H1 households of the tribes H4294 of the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 apportioned H5157 by lot H1486 in Shiloh H7887 before H6440 the LORD H3068 at the doorway H6607 of the tent H168 of meeting H4150. So they finished H3615 dividing H2505 the land H776.
So when Phinehas H6372 the priest H3548 and the leaders H5387 of the congregation H5712, that is, the heads H7218 of the [fn]families H505 of Israel H3478 who H834 were with him, heard H8085 the words H1697 which H834 the sons H1121 of Reuben H7205, the sons H1121 of Gad H1410, and the sons H1121 of Manasseh H4519 spoke H1696, it pleased H3190 H5869 them.
Then Phinehas H6372 the son H1121 of Eleazar H499 the priest H3548 and the leaders H5387 returned H7725 from the sons H1121 of Reuben H7205 and from the sons H1121 of Gad H1410, from the land H776 of Gilead H1568 to the land H776 of Canaan H3667, to the sons H1121 of Israel H3478, and brought H7725 back H7725 word H1697 to them.
Now they buried H6912 the bones H6106 of Joseph H3130, which H834 the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 brought H5927 up H5927 from Egypt H4714, at Shechem H7927, in the plot H2513 of land H7704 which H834 Jacob H3290 had bought H7069 from the sons H1121 of Hamor H2544 the father H1 of Shechem H7927 for a hundred H3967 [fn]pieces H7192 of H7192 money H7192; and they became H1961 the inheritance H5159 of Joseph's H3130 sons H1121.
Now the angel H4397 of the LORD H3068 came H5927 up H5927 from Gilgal H1537 to Bochim H1066. Now when the Philistines H6430 heard H8085 that the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 had gathered H6908 at Mizpah H4709, the governors H5633 of the Philistines H6430 went H5927 up H5927 against H413 Israel H3478. And when the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 heard H8085 about it, they were H3372 afraid H3372 of the Philistines H6430.

Then Jonathan H3083 said H559 to David H1732, “The LORD H3068, the God H430 of Israel H3478, is my witness! When H3588 I have sounded H2713 out H2713 my father H1 about this time H6256 tomorrow H4279 or the third H7992 day, behold H2009, if he has a good H2895 feeling toward H413 [fn]you, shall I not then H227 send H7971 word to you and [fn]inform H1540 H241 you?

Now it came H1961 about H1961 in those H1992 days H3117 that the Philistines H6430 gathered H6908 their armed camps H4264 for war H6635, to fight H3898 against Israel H3478. And Achish H397 said H559 to David H1732, “Know H3045 for H3045 certain H3045 that you will go H3318 out H3318 with me in the camp H4264, you and your men H376.”
Now when the people H376 of Israel H3478 who H834 were on the other H5676 side H5676 of the valley H6010, with those who H834 were beyond H5676 the Jordan H3383, saw H7200 that the men H376 of Israel H3478 had fled H5127 and that Saul H7586 and his sons H1121 were dead H4191, they abandoned H5800 the cities H5892 and fled H5127; then the Philistines H6430 came H935 and settled H3427 in them.

But David H1732 stayed H3427 in Jerusalem H3389.
Nathan H5416 then said H559 to David H1732, “You yourself H859 are the man H376! This H3541 is H3541 what H3541 the LORD H3068, the God H430 of Israel H3478 says H559: ‘It is I who anointed H4886 you as king H4428 over H5921 Israel H3478, and it is I who rescued H5337 you from the hand H3027 of Saul H7586.

“But as for you, Jacob H3290 My servant H5650, do not fear H3372,
Nor H408 be dismayed H2865, Israel H3478!
For, see H2009, I am going to save H3467 you from far H7350 away H7350,
And your descendants H2233 from the land H776 of their captivity H7628;
And Jacob H3290 will return H7725 and be H8252 undisturbed H8252

Nathan H5416 then said H559 to David H1732, “You yourself H859 are the man H376!
